Jags VS Saints Reactions

I decided after every game I would start a new topic. What are your thoughts on the game? Here are mine:

Our defense is outstanding! Our offensive has issues. Blaine did great in the first half, the second half the saints pass defense gave him hell in the second half, and also put alot of preassure on him. And thats when the rookie mistakes started. Which is expected. The major problem here is that we are not a passing team, and this is not something that cant be solved over night. Thomas is the only one that catches ball (and he even has quite a few drops). We need to gut our WR and start from stracth. Keep Thomas, work with Cecil Shorts and Chastin West, replace Dillard and Hill with veteran WR's. Oh yeah, and fire Del Rio. LOL

If we had a easy schedule this year we could have experimented with the passing, etc etc. But our scheduled is HARD. However it may seem weird, but I am glad that the issues on our O-line are finally being exposed. We cant hide by MJD anymore. But Im glad Gabbert is getting his first NFL with a TOUGH schedule. This experience is really going to make him a GREAT QB. He played his first game in a Monsoon and he has to face some powerful teams this year.

I think we finally have a quarterback again.  But he's a rookie so it will take some time.  Look for him to be good next year.  This year will be great learning for him.  I think in the first half, his receivers let him down.  In the 2nd half he was off cause he couldn't handle the pressure from the defense.  We really need some receivers who can consistently catch the darn ball.

Our defense played well in the 2nd half.  Not ready to say they are awesome.  My overall impression is that we have nothing to be ashamed of and it was entertaining football for a change.

Compared to last year, they are AWESOME. Im going to check tonight to see what we rank. We were 4 on defense. Im sure were still in the top five. And your right. Despite losing, it was actually entertaning. Im a die hard Jagsfan, however I dont let winning or losing dictate how I feel. If we go 1-15 this year, Im still gonna be happy and waiting on next season. We alot issues to address, and no time to address. So we just have to get through the season the way we know how. At the end of the , its just a game.

If we kick the field goals on the first two fourth downs we went for.  We are seven points down with the ball near midfield and almost two minutes left.  Please learn the game Jack.

Del Rio is making it known that he is a horriable coach. WW is having a cow right now in his office. We need a new coach and some WR's and we will be straight.

1) It's no secret that the Jags are helpless when they are playing from behind, so why in the WORLD does JDR roll the dice on 4th and 5 on the very first play down the field? I just didn't understand this call at all. The Saints got great field position as a result, scored, and immediate put the Jags in the hole.

2) It might seem obvious, but I hope the city cuts Blaine some slack. He's a rookie quarterback, brought up to the starting position way more quickly than anyone expected, and he's facing one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. I think the kid has a TON of potential once he gets a little more experience under his belt, once the nerves calm down a bit, and once he has another strong WR to throw the ball too. He could also use a little better protection at times too. I agree though that this schedule is going to be the very best thing for him. Next year, he'll really be someone to keep your eye on.

I can keep it brief:  Just chalk one more fan up who supports the prior statements from Duvaldude and Kay.

We just need that ONE WR. I was just reading an article and Brunell was talking about how much of a connection that him and Jimmy Smith. They even had this little thing going like they were super heroes. LOL But he talked about how they linked up. With no offseason and the QB chasos that has occured, this is going to be a tough road this season. I was impressed at the plays they were calling, HOWEVER that is not the normal "run the ball" style we play and you cant become a passing team overnight. DR knows his jobs on the line. If we dont have another win by bye week, I have a gut feelings DR is going to be toast.

Kicking field goals doesnt win games againts team like the Saints. Lack of talent on offense big and major issue. Defense certainly playing better than last yr.  I like what I saw from BG, he needs more talent around him, MJD is really the only true weapon on offense we in and we out.  It looks like the Jags wont win another game this yr. Need wr's and DB next draft. O-line still needs work. Over all I was surprise they kept it a game until the end. Bring on the stripe red cats. Go Jagd

JeffreyS

Wrong it is a field goal league.  I do not think they would have won this game had they kicked those field goals but that was the strategic play Del Rio could have done and it would have in fact given them a chance instead of taking that chance away.

I don't agree that MJD is the only talent on offense besides Gabbert. I'd throw in Mike Thomas, M. Lewis, Kharim, Hill, Z. Miller. I think we have an alright squad. I think their lack of cohesion comes from having a rookie QB, one of the hardest schedules in the league, and a lack of coherent coaching. I like J. Del Rio. I think he's an alright guy. But considering he's been around for 8+ years and we've hardly been to the playoffs 2x, I genuinely believe he's the problem.

Its a field goal league, really then the Jaguars should be undefeated, b/c thats the one thing they do well. Kicking field goasl while the other team marches up and down scoring TDs. We are talking about the NFL right? When 3 points is > than 7 someone please let me know. This team does lack talent as well as good coaching. I would suggest that  some of you guys sit closer to the TV or take binoculars to the game. We saw this last yr the inability to score points, so BG may have some part in it since he's a rookie, but lets not kid ourselves. We've seen this before with DG as well. MJD is really the only threat on offense!

exactly!

and that mattered all the more to me because Scobee is my fantasy kicker...he made it from 60 last week and 59 last year, so I think 58 (what the first one would have been) is in his range!

It also didn't help that the arrows were pointing the wrong way  :D

Keith-N-Jax

If they had converted the 4th down everyone would saying good job and as far as fantasy points lol. NFL should do away with that all it does is encourage the me first mentality. Great halftime show by Bethune.

JeffreyS

Your right that the call would have been wrongly applauded if successful. Down 13 with of over seven minutes is a no brainer kick the field goal.  This is really just straight forward the best call in an NFL game. I don't mind if Jack's chart for when to go for it is less conservative than others.  This was off the charts bad.  Pure emotion not thinking clearly.
