Dear Friends of Quality of Life in Jacksonville:

Some good folks--Wayne Wood, Tony Allegretti, and other urban core boosters--are organizing a rally of support for Alvin Brown for Mayor at Memorial Park today, Sunday, May 1st (5-6pm).

It’s called “May 1, Day 1” and the sole purpose is to meet your neighbors in this historic park, reflect on the quality of life in our city, and chat together as to how WE can take it to the next level â€" with our vote for Alvin. There will be a short list of speakers anchored by Alvin himself.

We’re encouraging “meet-ups” to walk, bike or ride, with hundreds of people spilling into Memorial Park!

Many of us will be biking to the rally from the St. Johns end of Boone Park; we're meeting at 4 and pulling out at 4:15 for Memorial Park. Join in or create your own walk or ride.

Please help us spread the word to FB friends and email lists â€" now! If you care about improving our urban core, Alvin Brown is your man.

If you weren't there, you missed a great event. Tony Allegretti estimated about 400 folks--a textbook Riverside crowd, with all races, ages, creeds, orientations, wallet sizes. Awesome drum circle, hoola hoop dancers, frisbee dogs, fishermen, kids, hipsters--and an inspirational performance by Alvin Brown. Lots of notables there, too: Delores Weaver, Preston Haskell, Tommy Hazouri, Matt Carlucci, Ed Pratt Daniels, Wayne Wood, and the Honorable Ed Austin in spirit.

Grimss you are right, it was a great time.  Alvin has such a wonderful message and the credentials to get it done.  We need someone to take Jacksonville forward and not someone that will keep us mired in the past.  What a fantastic mix of folks from the neighborhood that care about the future of our city.  It was very inspiring!!  Please get out and vote for our future and Jax's potential we are always talking about on this website.

Now who planned this??? Announce it on the same day as its happening? With no time to get word to the local media? Who's bright idea was that?? I wish I had know for I would have surely been there.

Dog Walker

Wayne Wood started the whole rally off with a really rousing round of questions and getting shouts back from the crowd.

Great fun and dramatic demonstration of the split in the nifty fifty.

There were a lot of neat, well behaved dogs in the crowd too.  Also typical for a Riverside crowd.
When all else fails hug the dog.

Well, someone need to report this to Dr. W. Wood to ensure we would improve our communications among supporters and interested parties in any future events beyond Facebook, Twitter, MetroJax, Jacksonville.com, local newspapers, but more of word of mouth and personal convictions.

If it was on jacksonville.com then it was buried. I usually look at that website at least 4 to 5 times every day and there was no mention of a rally, that I saw, anywhere on the newspages.

I went to lunch today at one of my favorite local establishments, and who do I see but Hogan and he is surronded by the GOB! I tell you the more I see him and his smugness it just makes me want Alvin to win even more! They really feel they have the election won.
