Quote11:06AM "Today we're partnering with a giant of the industry, and that's Apple." Boom.

The big surprise...  $199 for the 16GB, $299 for 32GB -- mobile hotspot included! Up to 5 devices.

Yes please everyone switch, that way when I stay with ATT the network improves.  Verizons network is going to really take a beating.  ATT put 50 billion dollars into it's network since the first IPhone an it still has trouble in some cities.  Even though Jax is perfectly ok.  Ive been to NY, San Fran, DC, and Europe this past year an still had great service.  Plus Apple is going to have another iPhone come out in June like they have had every year since the first model.  Why run out an buy one now?  You've waited for years, what's a few more months.

Verizon's network already takes a beating. This isn't their first smart phone. iPhone 5 will be unveiled in June for sure. It will most likely operate on the LTE network for Verizon but remain on AT&T's 3G network.

I'm waiting for details on their data plan prices and if the mobile hotspot feature will be an additional charge. I've spoken to 2 different Verizon employees and got different answers from both.

If unlimited data stays at $29.99 and includes the mobile hotspot connection I'm buying now.

If they do decide to charge for hot spots then your crazy to switch.  Plus your can't talk an download data at the same time on Verizon.  I use that feature all the time.  Besides everywhere in Jax the ATT iPhone works great.  Will they lose customers nation wide? Most definitely!  But in the end it's still a plus for ATT iPhone users because it creates competition.  An in a free market like this, will drive down prices.  Win win baby!

In almost all regards except for battery life, I'll still take the Droid Incredible over the iPhone 4 any day of the week on Verizon.

Still dark spots on the westside that barely register 2G speeds.

I have one for work, and have dropped calls due to service.

The Compound

Verizon's iphone has no global roaming capability, no simultaneous voice/data. It does offer a hotspot, but if you get a call, all the data is dropped.
Also, obviously Verizons iphone is a CDMA version so if someone wants to switch from ATT to Verizon, you have to get a new phone, you cant use an ATT iphone.

So the Verizon iPhone 4 data plans were released by Verizon today... nothing shocking but still somewhat disappointing. The wifi hotspot feature will infact cost an extra $20 per month for 2 GB of data.

I'm almost 100% going to hold off for the iPhone 5 now for the 4G capabilities and facetime being available over the network - not just wifi.

QuoteWhen Verizon announced the iPhone was coming to their network in February, there weren’t many surprises waiting for attendees: the Verizon iPhone had been strongly rumored for years, with those rumors solidifying vagueness into near certainty since November of last year, when the New York Times reported the Verizon iPhone’s imminent arrival as fact. The handset itself wasn’t anything special, just an iPhone 4 with CDMA guts. In fact, about the only thing that surprised everyone was that the Verizon iPhone would operate as a mobile hotspot for up to five other devices over WiFi thanks to a new Personal Hotspot app.

Pretty cool… but Verizon was being tight-lipped about how much it would cost, if anything. Well, wonder no more: Verizon has just confirmed that the feature will cost $20 per month on top of your existing data plan.

Honestly, this isn’t really very surprising. Verizon’s other smartphones also charge $20 for personal hotspot privileges. You may grouse that Verizon’s $30 unlimited data plan for smartphones should cover this â€" what do they care where your phone is offloading its data to â€" but in truth, laptops suck up a lot more data than iPhones.

With that in mind, probably the most disappointing aspect of Verizon’s Personal Hotspot plan is that it limits you to only 2GB of data, with each gigabyte ove thatr costing up to $20. Note that Verizon is offering unlimited data to iPhones â€" which actually use less data than laptops â€" but enforcing the traditional 2GB cap for more data intensive devices. How backwards.
