The committee has decided to help spruce up the block of Pearl between 7th & 8th, for the home tour. We intend to decorate to vacant homes (with owner permission, of course) so the visitors won't notice so much that they're vacant and look more festive. We want to help make the spar home holiday tour as successful as possible.

We plan on meeting on Saturday, December 4th at 1:00 PM.

If anyone has any holiday decorations that they are no longer using and would like to donate to this cause. Feel free to pm me, and we'll work it out to have them picked up. Thank you!

Hey, sorry I missed the meeting- and I will be out of town on the 4th too, but we are putting up the decorations this weekend so I most likely will have extras for you :-)

Springfielder

I appreciate that....I'll catch up with you before you leave :-)

I think over the next week, we ought to make an effort to drive the route of the walking tour and if we see any blighted areas, just pull over and grab the trash or string up some spare ornaments on an empty tree. The beautification committee is going to focus on the 1700 block of Pearl Street, but there are other areas in need of some love as well.

The difference could really be amazing if we all chipped in when we are routinely driving by.

Nice story in the T-U and photo too. Good coverage of your work.

I know!! Pretty cool, huh?

Preservation SOS decorated the vacant houses that are along the SPAR Holiday Home Tour. May not look like a lot, but it gives them a softer look than just boarded up windows

JB, that was a very good thing to do!  It really shows that the neighborhood cares about "the least of these."
