Is Whiteway Gone?

Driving down King Street the other day, noticed the windows of the new Whiteway Deli covered with paper or wood, and a hand lettered "Closed" sign on the door.  It looked like there was more writing on the sign, but I was already running late, and didn't have time to stop and go read the sign.

I always thought Whiteway was quite average. The portions were way too small, and the meat wasn't anything to write home about. I think people go there because of it's 'institution status', which is fine by me...we need some more institutions in Jax. It would be sad if it closed down.

No. It's totally still open (and you said the new one so you obviously didn't just pass the old one and see that its closed). What time did you go by? Its not open on weekends or after 3pm on weekdays (which is unfortunate, but I guess they can't make enough money those times?).

Geez, that was over a month ago, I don't remember what time it was ... But glad to hear that this neighborhood institution is still open.

I actually drove by the "new" site as well and thought it was closed and there was a for lease sign.  hmmm...I guess I need to drive by a little slower.
