They've got too sweet a deal here to leave-  it's better for them than a home and home series, no?

I wonder if people realize just how much the fate of this game in JAX is tied to the Jaguars, and having a stadium that can compete and hold serve with other venues.

^ The game has been played here long before the Jags came into existence, and will probably keep being played here without the Jags if they leave.

They won't move this game away from Jax.   Its too big of a game to move.

What if the facilities aren't up to par anymore, because they sit empty the other 363 days a year?  That was my point.  The Jaguars were the catalyst for the rebuilding of the then antiquated and crumbling Gator Bowl into what it is today.  Without them, we'd have the poor man's Citrus Bowl and likely would have lost the game to Atlanta or a home/home series long ago.

Even in the holiest of holies (College FB), the almighty dollar will wallop tradition all day long and twice on Sunday.

A very wise decision in deed. Atlanta just doesn't have the facilities to hold this game, and it be fair to the fans.

If only FSU would make it a tradition to hold a game here every year. When they played Alabama in 2007, that was an awesome event to attend.
Jacksonville: We're not vertically challenged, just horizontally gifted!

Game has just been approved to stay in Jax through 2016.

Georgia Dome certainly can't handle RV city. Interesting reading all of the posts on AJC (obviously mostly UGA fans), seems the majority wanted it to remain in Jax. They like the road trip. With all that is going on with the Jaguar questions, it would have been devastating to lose this game and its revenue post 2010.

Heard David Lamm interview Rick Catlett this afternoon BEFORE the decision came out.  He said losing the FL/GA game and losing the Jags were each unlikely to happen.  He then said that of the two, losing the FL/GA was more likely.  He believes the owners of the other teams are sympathetic to the problems here and will give Mr. Weaver every opportunity to succeed.

sure, but how many folks went to the FSU-Colorado game last year?

Fact is UF has argued that it NEEDS to have 6 home games every year because of the "neutral" site game against UGA....FSU has had several years with only 5 home games.

Not many. Side note...wish the Gator Bowl game could get an SEC/ACC tie each year especially now that Miami and FSU seem to be trending upward again.

Somwhere around 40,000, but you have to remember, it was Colorado. Had it been another large name like the Alabama game, it likely would've sold much more.

That's pretty authoritative, considering Catlett was part of the effort to get the team in the first place.  I hope he's right.
