To bad this was "punted" to the Mayor and city council...  they clearly called a fair catch and decided not to try and run with it... ;)
More like they didn't try to catch it at all, then it took a bad bounce and was downed at the 1.

Fellas......you have the wrong take on things............COJ and the silly Mayoral wanna be were never in the game to begin with! Nothing has come from City Hall, either from the Council or the Mayors office, regarding any participation in anything to do with a rail system of any type! I have not heard of anything nor have I seen anything. The saddest thing about that is .......I don't expect to either! Council and Johnny both can not see past their collective noses......tis a sad state of affairs!

The problem with the site in Melbourne that they're talking about is that there's nothing really near/at the site they're proposing.  It's across a 4-lane road, and thus entirely separated, from the back side of the Airport.  On the other side of the tracks is Nieman Road that runs past a magnet junior/senior high school and past a residential neighborhood.  The only thing marginally close by is the Courthouse.  Ehh.

If they moved the station site across Babcock and further down Apollo, they'd tap into a more-established commerical corridor and thus there'd be more 'stuff' right outside the station.

Melbourne apparently can't plan any better than Jacksonville can.

Imo, DT Melbourne would be ideal but it looks like the airport site offers a good amount of land in a developed area for infill development between the tracks, airport terminal and Babcock Street.

Well it would be nice if Johnny had any idea's about this.........or even if any of his boys and girls had any thoughts regarding rail and the like? However that would be too much to ask for since they are busy trying to do something..........not quite sure what but then neither are they!
