Paper vs. Plastic

In the days of the Soviet Union, all the women of the Eastern Bloc used to carry in their purses what they called "perhaps" bags.  They are those nylon mesh bags that will pack down to nothing and expand to carry a Volkswagen.  They were called perhaps bags because in those days "perhaps" the stores would have something to buy and they wanted to have something to carry it home in and the stores certainly did not provide bags.

Wonder where you can get those mesh bags now.  They would be a good alternative too.

Paper or Plastic bags, are you for real? Get people to stop buying so much water in plastic bottles, then we can discuss this.

MT, You are absolutely correct, but the thread was about bags.  Guess we could also start a thread about disposable vs. cloth diapers.  I personally find that the cloth ones polish my car much better than the disposables!!

They're out there, or at least similar alternatives...Envirosac is one that comes to mind.

Dog, no sweat, when the kids can't get high from liquid paper or the over the counter glue, they will resort to burning the plastic and getting high off the petrochemicals, so there is obviously a good use for them. Sad to say, you can't get the same high from diapers....

^ I'd be willing to donate a used diaper for experimentatation.  I have a fresh daily supply from two very active toddlers.  I'm sure the diaper "additives" would have some sort of affect on a willing stoner.  Perhaps death?  :)

Mtrain, I agree on the plastic bottle issue.  Talk about MADNESS!

The bottled water thing has to be one of the biggest con jobs of all times.  Brands of water???  Like there's a difference!

The whole "eight glasses of water a day" thing has no medical validity at all and is just a marketing ploy.

To make soft drinks, the bottlers take regular city water and run it through a reverse osmosis process to make chemically pure, taste free water.  They then add the flavoring and sweetening syrups and carbonation.  To make "bottled water" they add nothing, but then charge the same!  Their profit on water is MUCH better than on their soda products.  Aquafina and Desani are brands of Coke and Pepsi.

Unless you are on a bad tasting well, bottled water is a total rip off.
