It shouldn't matter if you believe marriage is for a man and a woman or not. The government shouldn't have any say in who you marry.  This is a religious or personal decision by individual  people.  No matter how you think it contributes or disrupts that society marriage is only about the people participating in one individual union and nobody else's beeswax.

River, I think my post was more about the desperate Rovian measures being enacted to entice voters to the poll this year.

The Wedge issue strategy is pretty reprehensible I think, especially for something as cheap as electoral politics.

Suppose the Democrats sponsored a referendum against torture with a provision to guarantee the voting rights of women and minorities?

I've popped onto your forum here a few times and finally took the plunge and joined, so please be nice.

I think what you are insinuating here is that Democrats are above such political maneuvers and would never dream of doing such a thing.  Am I reading this correctly?

I agree all parties pander to whatever is going to get them elected then do what they are told to do otherwise they wont get that second term.  Has something changed since Reagan?
