The guys at das gatos (sp. anyone?) are working on getting their club up and running.  This will be yet another night time venue downtown.

Good stuff.

I haven't heard a thing about this.  Does anyone of more info?? Location sounds great

Dog Walker

Dos Gatos = Two Cats.  Two owners, both named Catherine?  Owned by two ancient beatniks?  Owned by a Mexican with two kitties?
When all else fails hug the dog.

Looking forward to this bar to open; one of the co-owners was a bartender at Twisted Martini.  She told me it would be more of a lounge with a bit of a west coast feel to it.   :)

The more nightlife the marrier! Not sure if it will be my type of bar though but if it brings more people downtown than I am all for it! Post more as soon as you hear!

I know the same bartender...  she had hinted at this opening awhile ago but was very coy about where.  Wahoo!  I am there!  Of course this means Twisted loses a great bartender...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I look forward to checking it out. Anyone know the demo they are targeting? Main reason I ask...my wife and I are looking to reinstate our "date night" once a month and would prefer a place with a mellow vibe to have a good night cap. Good music etc. but not the young (20's) night scene. We are getting old (or at least I am) ;)

I will take any suggestions for other spots as we do need to get out more often.  ;D

1) I'd recommend the Brick.

2) I'd also recommend 2-3 nights per week, not just once a month!  ;D

Braeburn,

Has the Brick become better from a service standpoint?  My last experience there (probably two years ago) was not very pleasant (and I am not a high maintenance patron). Service just sucked on a not very busy Saturday night.

With you on the 2-3 nights per week. We are finishing up a massive home remodel so the once a month is about it at this juncture  ;D

It'd be worth it to give it another try. The eclectic jazz, the ambiance and even the outdoor setting has always been synonymous with a "chill" zone.

The other places I'd think that would fit this criteria are Orsay, Walkers, and one of my alltime favorites on Fridays is Riverside liquors (if live music isn't a requirement).

For a good while they've been doing a wine tasting on fridays, from 5-8pm. They  close at 10pm, but it starts out slow and picks up with a lot of cool people and a nice relaxing atmosphere.

The wine tastings have always been free, and they are generous with the servings, allowing repeats of some of the wines. I've not been in a while, but I'd think it's still going on.

Thanks...all sound good..where is Riverside liquors?  (and live music is a preference..but not a requirement)

It's the liquor store in 5 points, across the street from the theatre. There is a bar in the back. Highly recommended :)

DT bar crawl: Burrito Gallery to London Bridge to Poppy Love Smoke to Dos Gatos to TSI to Dive Bar to Mark's to Ivy to Landing via new pedestrian park.  Who's up for it?  ;)
Sed quis custodiet ipsos cutodes (Who watches the watchmen?)

I'm up for it...damn, gotta check with the wife...forgot about her  ;D

Walkers is a gay bar now, fyi. At least on the weekends. I wouldn't go there with your wife, it's rather awkward.
