Anyone know if the old Jax Brewery building is for sale (1701 West 16th Street)? Or know how i can request that information?

downtownparks

Its currently being used by e-scrap recycling.

I have taken a tour of the facility. Its still largely intact (coolers, ect) though the building is in horrific shape.

I don't know if its for sale, but its in a questionable area, off the beaten path.

Did you ever find the place you wanted in order to open your bar?

No, still looking for the right spot, Preservation Tap and Chophouse is up for sale and the design of the building would be perfect , It would allow us to put the tanks upstairs and use a gravity fed system, But I've been told the asking price is pretty high. I did contact the agent you had suggested, but never heard back. We checked out "The Library" on Monday but haven't been able to extract a lot of information. We're looking to open something, be it a full blown Brewery / Restaurant or Beer Pub by late 2008.

Someone, who gets into the old JAX BREWERY and walks out with old tanks, pipe, signs and equipment, would make a killing in this city and the 5-10 county area. Add to that a purchase of the old JAX BEER name from Pearl Brewing? and OMG, you could laugh all the way to the bank.

A nice Jax Beer...Big Cat lager

I'll stand in line, let me know...

Have you checked out 20 West on Adams Street?  Their realtor mentioned that they would be willing to give a cheap leasing rate to get a restaurant in the building.  Would you consider Main Street in Springfield or Edgewood Avenue in Murray Hill?

I tried to put him in touch with Petra Mgmt (Hionides group) about the old surfside blding on Main. I guess they didnt follow up, so I am trying to get a hold of them to see if I can get them talking about it.

How much square footage are they looking for?  How about Pier Avenue's building on the SW corner of 7th & Main or Springfield Station's old spot at 6th & Main?

I always thought the ground floor of the Churchwell Lofts on E. Bay Street at S. Market Street would be a perfect place for a pub/restaurant/sports bar, especially if you can get some residents upstairs.  Not sure if it would have the vertical clearance you need for brewing, though.  Anyone know if something is planned for that space?

Also, why did the Preservation Chophouse close so quickly?  It was barely open a year.

Churchwell Lofts would be another good spot as well.  I think its still available.
