Jacksonville is the 25th most-dangerously drunk city according to a recent Men’s Health magazine study.

The magazine examined annual death rates due to alcoholic liver disease, surveys on people who regularly consume five or more drinks during a sitting, drunk-driving arrests, fatal accidents involving intoxicated motorists and MADD report cards.

Denver topped the list, followed by Anchorage, Alaska, and Colorado Springs. Jacksonville got a D+ grade.

Miami, however, was listed as the second least-dangerously drunk city. Durham, N.C., came in ahead of Miami and No. 3-ranked Buffalo in that category.

I would think that walkability would play a mojor role.  In Jax you almost have to drive to get to a bar, whereas more compact and walkable cities with transit would help to keep people from getting behind the wheel.

I was always looking for a 40 acre patch of natural herb. I had this goal to hike into the center of it with a 35# bag of Oreo Cookies, and smoke my way out. One leaf at a time. Never happened though. Alcohol? Well maybe a little medicinal "Southern Comfort" once in a while, but if my liver ever falls out on the street and dies, it sure won't be from Alcohol... But since I have a HUGE enlarged liver, would they count it that way? Hee hee!

BTW, to all my drunken friends... HAPPY REPEAL DAY! This is, after all the date in which prohibition ended and an entire criminal empire crashed to the earth. Gee, one would think the White House and DEA would learn from history.
