Report: Former Tennessee QB McNair found dead

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com.

McNair, police said, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville. A female victim was also found dead, police spokesperson Don Aaron said. Aaron said the women has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

The incident happened near 2nd South & Lea Ave in Nashville.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL, 11 were with the Tennessee Titans. He played his final two years with the Baltimore Ravens, retiring after the 2007 season.

McNair was picked third overall in the 1995 draft out of Alcorn State by the then Houston Oilers.

McNair was a very tough, very talented quarterback who helped the Titans break the hearts of Jaguar fans on many occasions.  You had to respect his talent and heart though.  Very tragic.

RIP Air McNair. Well said UL, I definitely respected McNair's talent; He was one of those guys that you hated to play against, and you wish that he was on your team. Not only was he a great running QB, but he had a pretty damn accurate arm as well.

All of that money, fame, and fortune and can't handle it...doesn't matter that he had retired, he still had money and access to it.  It appears that this is a case of "at the wrong place at the wrong time."

 (CNN) -- Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was killed in a shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, authorities said Saturday.

Police said they found McNair and a woman shot to death in a Nashville residence after receiving a phone call about an injured person.

The woman has been tentatively identified, but her name is not being released, authorities said.

A law enforcement source close to the investigation said the woman is McNair's girlfriend and that the residence is her condominium.

Witnesses said McNair was a frequent visitor there.

Authorities were questioning people who were near the home, but they said no one was in custody. Video Watch report on McNair's death »

They could not provide details about the circumstances of the shooting.

McNair's brother, Fred, also confirmed the death but had no immediate details.

20-Year Old Sahel Kazemi 2nd Victim

Nashville Police idenitifed the second victim in the shooting of former Titans Quarterback Steve McNair as 20-year old Sahel Kazemi.

Police found the pistol near Kazemi's body on the floor of a condiminium rented by McNair. McNair was seated on the couch. They are not ruling out a murder/suicide in the case. There were no signs of forced entry on the condominium.

"The medical examiner will be conducting autopsies tomorrow (Sunday)," Metro Police Spokesman Don Aaron said. "We expect to make additional conclusions after the autopsy process."

Aaron said McNair suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including a wound to the head. Kazemi died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Police stopped a car driven by Kazemi two days ago on Broadway in downtown Nashville. Police charged her with driving under the influence and refusing to take a breath test. McNair was a passenger in the car, which he co-owned with Kazemi according to public records.

Rumors surfaced during the day that the second victim was McNair's wife, Mechelle. Police said by late afternoon that was not the case.

Norfleet said she told him she was seeing McNair, who she met while working as a waitress at Dave & Busters. He was worried about her dating a married man and hopeful they’d get back together. They had been living together for four years, since they moved from her family’s home in Jacksonville, Fla., to Nashville.

So, this was a secret girlfriend? I thought he was married? Also, it looks like she shot him then shot herself. This will be quite the story when it works itself out.

Maybe he was getting ready to end the relationship and she was in love with him, if, as you all say, she shot him and then shot herself.  Otherwise, it could have been a case of her married Boyfriend being upset and jealous of the relationship she had with McNair and shot them both, and then tried to make it look like a murder-suicide.

He must have already broke up with her, for her to do that. And she popped him 4 rounds, 2 to the chest, 2 to the dome!! Dude was asleep when she popped him. He had to be asleep, McNair was too strong for a 20 year old girl to drop 4 slugs in him with no fight. No way she would be just hanging in the crib after a breakup, who does that?

So she shoots him multiple times, then shoots herself once to the head, and then the gun is right by her side? Looks like someone is staging the accident from all accounts. A recently turned 20 year old with no gun history, after reading the papers, she seemed like a sweet young girl.

I sense a 3rd party's actions here.
