QuoteLastly, in my opinion, Tom Coughlin's firing was very premature and impatient.  I've always felt they should have held on to him, been patient, and I'll bet a super bowl trophy would now sit at Jax Municipal Stadium.

Coughlin is a great coach but unfortunately that wasn't his only title here. He was GM and offensive coordinator too. He ran the team into the red financially and couldn't handle both responsibilities on the field. He wasn't going to relinquish those roles and had to be let go for the mess he made.

QuoteThe Jaguars were more successful (division titles, Championships, etc.) during Coughlin

1. That was a different division for the most part.
2. There was no Peyton Manning / Tony Dungy then

Don't forget he was 1 bad play from being dismantled in NY and unemployed once again during the Giants Superbowl season.

Very true!  Man, that was an ugly catch!

Still a win though. And it was great watching the Pats suffer defeat after going 18-0.... they've been the thorn in the Jag's playoff hopes dating back to 1996, so I really really enjoyed that one.

Alright I’m setting a calendar reminder for late December about this thread. I'll post then to see who's predictions come true. Seriously: I’m thinking 8-8 or 9-7 tops, with a slim chance for playoffs.

After losing Fred Taylor, who will smack that Jaguars defense ass when the Jags play the Pats, it's laughable that they expect us to have hope. You'd have a pair of big ones to give them anymore than 6-8 wins this season.

I'll wait until the draft before my overall regular season predictions. It's all good that MJD got his loot, but Garrard still doesn't have a reliable WR to throw the ball to. I'm still thinking optimistic though, atleast playoffs.

How about Boldin?  He's available for a team willing to give up their 1st & 3rd round picks.

Yeah, we definitely could use him. 1st, and 3rd is kinda high though. Why do we wait so late? Looks like the Holt thing ain't working. Hey Lake, how do you think your Phins are gonna do?

thelakelander

The Phins have a tough schedule, so I don't think they'll be as successful as last year.

Sept. 13  at Atlanta Falcons (W)
SEPT. 21  INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (W)
Sept. 27  at San Diego Chargers (L)
OCT. 4  BUFFALO BILLS  4:05 P.M. (W)
OCT. 12  NEW YORK JETS  8:30 P.M. (W)
Oct. 18  Bye Weekend
OCT. 25  NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (L)
Nov. 1  at New York Jets (L)
Nov. 8  at New England Patriots (L)
NOV. 15  TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (W)
Nov. 19  at Carolina Panthers (L)
Nov. 29  at Buffalo Bills (W)
DEC. 6  NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (W)
Dec. 13  at Jacksonville Jaguars (W)
Dec. 20  at Tennessee Titans (L)
DEC. 27  HOUSTON TEXANS (W)
JAN. 3  PITTSBURGH STEELERS (L)

My guess, which will change after the draft and preseason, is that they'll finish up around 10-6 or 9-7.

QuoteGotcha. I'm not a huge football fan outside of the Jags so I never payed much attention.

This will be Jack Del Rio's curtain call. If Weaver cleaned out Shack, he surely will not tolerate another mediocre season with all of Del Rio's excuses.....

The phins are not going to beat the Jags or the Colts.

Jason

I don't see the Dolphins beating any of the AFC South...  ;)

thelakelander

A year ago, I didn't see a 1-15 team, going 11-5 record and winning the AFC East outright, the following season either.  :)

That's a lot to give a 30 year old receiver who hasn't really proved himself to be a true #1 receiver.

The new GM is all about young player's and as many draft pick's as possible.

DelRio was just signed to a long term contract and is one season removed from the divisional round of the playoff's. Weaver knows the team is rebuilding and has realistic expectations. JDR is safe.

QuoteWhy do we wait so late?

It's only April!! Ask yourself why Holt and Harrison haven't been signed by another team... In fact, other than the Cutler trade and the Haynesworth acquisition the free agent market has been pretty quiet.

I heard on 930 AM that Arizona would settle for two number two's(this year, and next year) and a four.

0-6 vs. the division?  Ouch.
Thats what I was thinking. Jags have never been swept by the whole division before.

i see 8-8 record. Doesnt look like a good year for the teal. Jacks last season.

They wont get swept by the whole division. Football season hasn't even started and we already have nails in the coffin.
