Dear Advocate,

Following the recent resounding 39-0 vote in the Florida Senate to Pass The Buck For a Healthier Florida, as well as positive movement in negotiations with the Florida House, we now need your help to ensure that the $1 tobacco surcharge is given favorable consideration by Governor Charlie Crist as we head into the waning days of the legislative session. Governor Crist thus far has only indicated that he would support a special levy on smaller tobacco companies that don't pay into the state's tobacco settlement. We need him to recognize that ALL cigarettes cause cancer and that we should have an across-the-board increase first! Your calls and emails over the next few days will be critical to the success of the campaign.

Please call Governor Charlie Crist at (850) 488-4441 now, and deliver the following message:

"Governor Crist, please support the user fee on tobacco, including ALL CIGARETTES, for HEALTH reasons. It'll save lives and, more importantly, will keep hundreds of thousands of kids from ever starting to smoke."

After calling, please click on the link below to send the Governor a follow-up email about this issue:

Thanks in advance for your immediate attention to this call-to-action.

Sin taxes are among the most regressive taxes around.  I think our fellow adult Floridians choices about what they choose to smoke, drink or eat should be respected.
