On a lighter note... He doent like the new Uni's either... :)

QuoteOn the same day the Jaguars were starting fresh by unveiling their new uniforms, one of the team’s former stars was being hauled off to jail.

Jimmy Smith, who played 10 seasons at wide receiver for the Jaguars, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near Interstate 95 and Golfair Boulevard, authorities said.

Lt. Bill Leeper of the Florida Highway Patrol said Smith was pulled over for excessive window tint on his 2009 Mercedes coupe. A check on his driving record revealed his license was suspended, and the trooper who initiated the stop smelled burnt marijuana wafting from the car. Crack cocaine, marijuana cigarettes and a business card with powder cocaine residue were located in the car’s center console, Leeper said.

Smith was booked into the Duval County jail about 8:20 p.m.

His attorney, Hank Coxe, declined to comment.

Smith was arrested in August during a DUI checkpoint with an open container of beer and marijuana in his car, according to authorities. He was also charged with an open container and possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, both misdemeanors. He tested positive for cocaine after another traffic stop in 2001.

Smith told the Times-Union after his August arrest that he was “dealing with a very difficult, very personal issue” and he knew “this is not the solution.”

“Everybody has issues,” he said. “My issues are just magnified.”

Jaguar spokesman Dan Edwards declined to comment Wednesday night about the arrest.

Smith played for the Jaguars from 1995 to 2005 and had 862 career receptions for the team. He retired in 2006 at age 37 as the the seventh-leading receiver in NFL history. He also accumulated 12,287 receiving yards, nearly twice as many as Keenan McCardell, the team’s second-leading receiver.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I hope he can get the help he needs.

What a shame. For a guy who over came so many problems early in his career to revive his career you would think he could do the same in his personal life. From the recent pics I've seen you can really notice how much the drugs have aged him.
I saw him on Pros vs. Joes a couple years ago and he looked great. I remember thinking he could come back to the team and have another 1,000 yds. + year. Not anymore.

He was a slim chance for the hall of fame before... now I don't think he'll even be considered... ever.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

As the resident old hippie, I'm left wondering what a guy with that sort of money is doing with "crack?" Jeeze Jimmy, that stuff will kill you man.

Otherwise??

A joint and a half can of beer + black man = "HUGE DRUG RING BUSTED - DETAILS AT 6 PM"

Bull Shit!

I agree what he had was a very small amount (of each) and I laughed when they charged him for the 3 grams of weed.

Lock his ass in jail and make him serve time, I have no sympathy for that damn idiot.

Edit: Yeah, yeah, apparently I cannot multi-task very well and thought of something completely different lol.

He would have remorse... you would have sympathy. :)

LOL great one BT.  Feel sorry for the guy, its apparent that his addiction caused him to cut his career short, what a shame.  Lost a very good friend to a similar problem,  at this point jail time would probably be the best for him, allow him to get things under control.  Hopefully he can make a new start.

Jimmy obviously has some issues to deal with. I wish him the best.

I don't know y'all, jail only makes the drug urge worse, AND it's as available there as anywhere on the outside. When you sit watching a TV 15 hours a day, the need for a diversion becomes overwhelming. I think this is why it's wrong to jail every kid they find with a joint or a beer.

Crack is a different matter, even different then regular coke. (Now again don't ask me how I know this, but I know... Okay? BTW, never touched that crack crap). The jury is still out on regular cocaine being physically addictive. Mental addiction is another thing. Alternate drugs are a false cure, believe me when I say Methadone is WORSE as a cure then the original drug was as a symptom. Miss a couple of doses and you die or pull your finger nails out. The stuff induces torture that not even the Viet Cong could have dreamed up. So chances are Jimmy COULD walk away from pure cocaine, the desire might still be there but the need won't.

Crack is where the need for attention is with our friend Jimmy. Jail won't do it. Hospital courses can be of some help, but the quickie type, two week clean ups don't work. He needs to go in and stay until he desires to reach out and help himself and perhaps others. Jimmy needs friends right now, all of us, in the past he would post on MetJax, maybe he'll read this, WE CARE JIMMY. While we should not enable him, we should be there for him in any way he may need us as a community.

Like a hooker friend of mine once said, "Give it up man, Donna ain't gonna change until Donna WANTS to change!" But Jail is the worst place to expect change, it only brings anger, alienation and major depression. In turn the need for escape.

These guys should be squeaky clean for what they're paid.  What other industry would put up with this stuff and continue to pay millions???  Pay me what they make and I think I could ingest only bread and water!

Um, banking, I think.
