Why don't we just cut the crap...it's a hate motivated blog.  He states "There is also the rumor that he installed his boyfriend..." then says "Anyone can rant, but it takes a mind to discuss valid points and be informed. "  You call rumors information.  She's not firing on all cylinders people.

PS People love my Avaitar not that it's remotely any of your business.   ;D

In my OPINION, this is just one of those good old power plays by the good ol' people in power. It will always be this way, as long as the folks in cat bird seat think they know best, and never allow anyone to dispute them on it. Anyway, it actually quite humorous to watch, but I hate it for the fact that all this takes time and money away from the issues at hand....A quality education from Duval County public schools. It's pretty sad adults have to act in this manner. I mean that from both sides of this fence.

By the way GB, I figured you were poking fun and already got the low down...  "Gator"back??? like it don't sociate wif ya be-ein from round rigcht her-ah...  but since you invited me to play....
And for all to know, I usually don't zing rumors out there, but out of over forty people I talked to who directly work as teachers or in administration, including a few that personally like him, only one person thought he was "okay". The rest felt it was time for him to go yesterday... and I have no reason not to take cheap shots at someone who would walk into a classroom and disrupt it with a rude and mean spirit, or play the little Hitler game in a body responsible for our kids... It was designed to go to his level, to anger and insult him like he did to teachers and our kids.
I don't pull many punches, speak from the heart and only speak when informed enough to have an opinion.  hey Parks.... I may sit on the edge of the desk and discuss, but I wouldn't be yelling down....
I agree he (Wise) may be smart, even think he's doing some good, but also think he is so out of touch, and I'm proud of our Board over how they corrected their mistake, except that they gave him too much money as a parting gift. How smart someone is does not make them a decent person, and decency is something someone in his now former position needs in spades... so I'm really happy we have PD in there for now, and hope he stays, because he deserves it.
And besides, rumors are usually have a grain of truth, and a single grain is a seed, and seeds grow...
From seven sources, four highly reliable, three of that four insiders, Wise has an offer to go to the College Board to replace Eric Smith, and if that is not the dead truth, something quite like it is in the works. Since we know he is smart, why else would he have attacked Brenda if not to get himself gone... and it must be about money or he wouldn't think of taking over a quarter mil with him as he goes......  and I'd bash the same way if he put a girlfriend or wife or anyone in an inside high paying position. Peyton does that for women he knows as well as guys, and I'm sure he's not going to put himself into their personal situations... it is a 2K version of the gold ole boys........
These highly paid public piggy bank raiders are all the same... and it has been that way for ages. Those of us who can't stand that crap fight it.
Wise was and is bad, but Peyton is a master at it. I give respect to those who deserve it... not who sits in power or has money, and us watchdogs need to be unified against that crap....  we all may have some different methods, but our objective seems to be the same....
The minor points we just need to disagree on... it's the objective beyond that we must support each other in.
Oh, and GB... those email addresses are on their website for contact... so nobody needs permission... they are in the public realm.... and I like the avatar... but what was meant was a real name... see, I have not a thing to hide, especially who I am...
So back to the content... after posting it had two more insiders say I was dead on... but time will tell, and I still think it's almost a civic duty to monkey wrench that to save the next group of people from him...
and damn, if he goes to the state??????
But we'll see what happens........
Until then, you can bet that every Board of anywhere I think he'll apply will hear about his actions here in Jax.
He'd need that $275K to live on if I had my way...

Funny.  I just can't tell what is hearsay and what's not.  I suppose informed people would understand that but what do I know, and why would I care....I guess one of the only truths about the above is that he has a friends and family as well as a proven track record.  So all this over your kid not having a/c on his bus huh.  I attended Kings Trail, had to walk to school, was shipped cross town in a safe albeit bus without a/c and oh my god without wifi and a 12VDC to keep my cell charged so I can text my bff or find out what's the latest U-Tube vid.

So, let's raise taxes so your boy can take an airconditioned bus, add wifi too this way he wont miss a minute of playing his computer being angry at the world for having to walk from the bus to class.  We wouldn't want mini-piggy to exersise or aspire to work or something.

Just to set the record straight...the school board members opted to accept Joe Wise's resignation, which also then pays him one years salary. The attorneys for the board were not able to clearly define "just cause" for termination...a clause in his contract that would've allowed for termination and only a $70 grand severance. Had they opted to continue on that path, it would've left Wise with grounds to sue and possibly more money lost. This way, he resigns and leaves with 275 grand (1 years salary.) This option was a unanimous vote and one they felt was the best option, given the circumstances.

I'm in agreement, that Wise needed to go...the changes he was (and had) making to our district was indeed, having very negative ramifications. He started out on the right track, when he streamlined much of the higher level administrative positions. However, with his most recent re-organizational changes, he wanted to add more top level administrators at much higher salaries than we've ever had. This, at a time when schools are being forced to make extreme budget cuts.

IMO, the final straw (as it were) for the board members, was Wise's total refusal to work with them. Had he just waited the 36 hours the board asked (actually, pleaded) then things may have turned out differently. It was his constant refusal and stubbornness that widened the gap between them.

thanks for the update I hate to see him go but it's for the best.

I didn't have time to read the contract, and should have expected a clause like that...
Well, as I said, I'd of paid to have him gone, and looks like we all are, but hooray!
And GB, it really started with the Normandy issue... they shaved down the individual school "district" and kept the threat of closing for years until parents were afriad of it closing and sent their kids to Crystal Springs, which has a FCRA capacity of just over a thousand but had over 1,400 kids, and other surrounding schools got magnets... Now Mousa was stuck at Paxon in a small building and wanted room to expand, so saw Normandy as the perfect place for a westside regional office. They said they would save under $200,000 by closing it, but FAILED to mention adding $147,000 in transportation, and they closed Normandy, which got an "A", while all the surrounding schools got a "C"... so Normandy got a bonus...
Normandy just got a new roof, and is in great shape....
There's land to expand, and ten years ago was at capacity, they even had portables there for a while....
Jimmie Johnson say the logic in saving it and fought for it, and Brenda changed her mind and voted to keep it open. Kris Barns was on the fence about it...and Cindy Rounds was on the side of saving it, but I think some kind of backdoor deal got her vote... I don't know...
I took them to court, and the case was dismissed without prejudice, so I could revisit it at any time, and with the progressions of the FCRA, I could force them to re-open it, especially since they violated three provisions of the FCRA in closing it...
But Head Start is there due to having to move away from contaminated land, and it is perfect for them, so I'd be just as bad as the Board if I moved them out to re-open it.
More recently, the bus issue... but that's not why I supported the Board against Wise. Wise has been a problem for a while, and the teachers are stressed, and I see it all the time...  It's not rocket science..
Now I know some of my comments were very rude, maybe crossed the line, but I just said what many were thinking, and there is a lot of truth in it all. The Fire Station deal came by chance following a Board meeting, but that is clear as well...
GB... right is right. Truth washes dirty away, and if I am ever wrong I am sure my facts will be corrected.. like not having the time to read the contract, and having it explained...
It's like playing Monopoly and getting rid of a cheater...
Aned just so you keep this in mind, I actually donate my time to make changes, and give of myself so kids have a better education... I'm sticking with the garden at Ramona, even though my son is gone from there, because without me kids won't have that...
What do you do along those lines???
and like I said elsewhere... I know you're from here...hence "gator" back...  my only question is if you're involved as a blogger or if you ever volunteer at schools or anything else and if you actually talk to teachers and kids before you post comments on education (?)

Oh, and as far as needing a/c on buses... districts that do have it have better performing kids and there really are safety issues on those rare but real days that it is dangerous... and heat increases violence and discipline issues, and that's proven as well... so that's a safety issue also...
So while people in the past didn't have a/c, me included, and I walked to school in deep snow and 15 degree weather, so there!  Consider that kids today are not as respectful, and a/c "chills" them out a little, which is important to the other good kids and drivers, who don't need to be distracted by kids fighting, passing out, or throwing crap out the windows...
GB, truth unfolds and once it is no longer denied, thing usually change for the better.

Only in America. This is why I rather help save mother earth or make a better place for dogs and cats heck all pets.  I volunteer at the food bank too.  The homeless we feed are respectful not that entitlement mentality that pappa is fostering.  Kids today are too disrespectful for my time I tell you I love um but for the most part no thanks. I don't have kids don't raise my taxes to keep skippy cool- that's your job and if you don't star doing it guess what? Jail time. Period.   If you want your kid to have a/c then why don't you drive him to and from school.

Now that we have that sorted out, GB, check out http://whiteroofamerica.blogspot.com
Oh, and having worked with Save Our Shores, CLearwater, among other things... I guess we share that outlook. I have oil collected and once I find a cheap diesel and get some lye and methanol I'm in... I use CFB's almost everywhere and have gotten clients to change out... so we're on the same page there..
have a good day... S

size=12pt]Hear the news? I was there. My son was second to speak and I was third. And while some of you seem okay, I see attitudes like Rush listening am talk radio closed minded 6 year olds....  My 11 year old son has more respect and doesn't have to hide his identity or resort to childish taunts to get a point across... oh, that's right, you had no point, and nothing good to bring to the table.
Anyone can rant, but it takes a mind to discuss valid points and be informed. It takes a little more to actually take some kind of action more than just complaining about things. You guys don't even know me, and make snide comments... take a screw-driver to yourself. Signs of little minds....
Now that you see I can snap right back... maybe you can act civilized.....

Was this rant directed at me?   ???

downtownparks

I think he was aiming it primarily at Gatorback, and maybe at me a little too (I said his posts were giving me RTSH flashbacks), but its kinda of hard to tell what with the little mind and all :-D

Skot David Wilson

Guilty conscience much? Downtown, you should know, not so much you, although before you see me as standing over your desk yelling, know who I am first, it was an unfair assumption... now GB, you, dude, really are not involved in DCPS or schools as far as I know, or can see, and I actually know quite a few people and am involved in all sorts of stuff which gives me across the board access to opinions and information from loads of sources, so you were really rude and off base and I simply won't take a critical jab unless I am maybe wrong and someone has something constructive to say.
And if anyone has an am talk radio mindset, they need to come with more than a Hannity brain to the table. I had people critical of my son who fail to remember that Wise shifted his attention and eyes from my son, and I have taught him that when you are having a conversation or people should be listening to you that it is disrespectful to turn away. Wise disrespected an 11 year old and the 11 year old put him in his place, had something to say, understands the situation and plight of teachers, and as a student, has more right than ANYONE to speak out if unhappy...
So I welcome discussion and opinion, but not stupid and childish insults or cheap shots... and neither of you know me well enough to snap like that at me, or insult me, because a free opinion deserves the right to be expressed, even if disagreed with, without resorting to childish pot shots....

I guess that's all and well since we gained a very voicestrous gardener.  But really, who f'd up the First Coast contract Scott.  Do you just love projecting the same ol same that ruined a perfectly resonable contract.  Boy, your friends must really love you for being you.

Got a kid in school here? Talk to lots of teachers and staff here? Spend time actually fighting DCPS or ever take them to court? I stopped fighting them long enough for them to get P.D. installed and running the show like it should have been from the get-go.
As far as the Board goes... Brenda is great, Betty and Tommy seem okay but I'm still on the fence about both, Kris cares but is blinded at times, Martha has surprised me at times, and Drake even quacked up nicely recently, and I guess Drake and Bronner are my least favorite... but personally we only know each other from advasarial occurances, and none of them have really ever given me the time I deserved, or politly responded concerning the issues I've raised, except Tommy and Brenda, and Kris barnes when the Normandy thing was going on.
Boy, closing an "A" school was egg on their face......
I think they are embarrassed over closing Normandy, except for Brenda, who changed horses when she saw Jimmie Johnson was right for supporting me. Betty Burney is yet to talk to me, and while she may be a nice lady, she IS NOT a responsive representative to her constituent, which puts her on the fecal list...
Yeah, my point.... they could be a lot better, but they are what we have and what the ignorant voters and money of Jerksonville installed. Brenda is a gem of a person through and through though....
I'll give them the slack to get Ed up and running and Wise=ass out. I met, almost know, and like Ed. He deserved it the last time and deserves it now, and will do a great job...
Teachers are swamped, and kids today are often rude little monsters who are allowed to be disrespectful  because everyone is so politically "correct" AND PUSIFIED...
Bad is bad and wrong is wrong and right is right, and I still believe that it isn't just the teacher's and school's job to teach and make sure kids are happy, secure, behaived, educated, and turn out well. It is all of us who are responsible, and there isn't much we can do better with our lives than help kids grow as decent, productive people.
Wise was bad for Jerksonville. He was a mean little tyrant, and just because he was smart does not mean he was a good leader...he wasn't.
So I love it when people poke fun at what I do, because I know, at the end of the day, that the kids and teachers I offer help to benefit from what I give of myself, and I don't know many people who can say that.
End of the day, they could do better, but they do decent enough and are always on a learning curve. I don't think they act with malice or plan to be occassionally stupid. They are just as human as the rest of us. I am their adversaral ally. I want what is best for our kids, and act accordingly, and I think they usually do. Watch how much pressure I apply in the near future for them to get a/c mandatory on school buses and allow water to kids on non-a/c buses when it's hot.
I see most people in society as worthless self-centered social sloths, who either complain or are so full of malaise and apathy that they simply need to be shot. I stand up in defiance of that, and refuse to sit silent as things go further to hell than they already have. So be happy I take kids and help them garden, touch the plants they read about, and understand the world a little bit better in the process. At least I'm doing something.
