Harvest Of Hope Music Festival

It was a good weekend in North Florida for fans of under the radar music. The festival also had a good number of popular acts that would otherwise never come to this part of Florida or even this part of the country.

Aside from planet fest, we don't really have anything solid that comes to the area on a regular basis. Even the Warped tour bypasses us often. Having spent over 12 years at events such as the warped tour, and not being a fan of the planet fest lineup, this most recent one at the St. Johns county fair grounds was a breath of fresh air.

You had a ton of different genres of music as well. Folk, indie, hip-hop, punk & hardcore. Plus, it was for a good cause and it wasn't a rip off either. 30 dollars for a 3 day pass because most  of the bands that played were simply donating their time for the foundation.

I'm not an event organizer, but I really wonder what it would take to lure an event like this to Jacksonville or anywhere nearby on a regular basis. Is it a simple case of supply & demand? Do these type of events not sell well in our area?

Even if that is so, this event drew people from all over. I'd like to see something similar to this on a yearly basis. I really do think North Florida is hungry for more.

My guess would be MetPark, though not sure if it could manage 4 stages. But as long as it doesn't coincide with football season I think it would work and the parking would certainly be sufficient.
Conformulate. Be conformulatable! It's a perfectly cromulent deed.

Yeah more like this. Girl Talk killed it.

Didn't see them though I would have liked to. And inspite of me only knowing like one song by them, Tokyo Police Club was really impressive.

Sorry Dave.

That was an impressive set. The stage was packed for them! I had never heard of them until then. Good stuff.

Sorry Dave.

I'm seriously cursed to never see that band. That's the 3rd time i've missed them, and I don't mean "oh I forgot they were playing" missed them. I'm talking "planning ahead weeks in advance then something comes up"  missed them. The show I tried to go to in Philly sold out on me like an hour before I got there. They canceled their show in Atlanta the weekend I was there, and rescheduled on me at the HOH fest.

I seriously didn't think they'd start that early on Sunday, but eitherway.... I had a blast there. It was an awesome 3 days of wholesome musical goodness. I haven't enjoyed a music fest that much in years.

And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Weren't they one of the last ones to perform? I really wanted to stay and see them, but I wasn't feeling the whole getting home after midnight thing.
