Oh good, another tattoo parlor, I must be really out of touch... Jacksonville's idea of modern art?

Brooklyn, SAY JTA! What a cool place for a Trolley Car Barn and Museum! Interstate close, surrounded by history, and packed with all of those records you didn't throw away in our first round. Welcome to round two...

Lake I agree, the old Church, the business block and that cool glass-block-arts deco building are screaming to be saved. I looked at that place and it has "neon, industrial, metalic, dance and food written all over it. McCoys Creek, another Hogans? Another chance to do what San Antonio and Oklahoma City have done? Neither of them have Streetcars running through their districts (yet) so there is a chance that we could still be a leader in something. Perhaps Brooklyn is the key.

Tattoo's? Really? Tattoos? Such culture Jacksonville...

And.... as recent as this week ::::

THE WIPE ME DOWN car wash has now opened out of the back of Elements !

I think the hip hoppers needed a day job.  This isn't a bad idea - I give them credit, at least they are working instead of sitting on their duff.

But I had to just roll in laughter when I saw the only white person working there and she was in a bikini trying to learn the soldja boy dance along Park St.  She really should put some sunshine on those cheeks before she brings them out for the public.

My car is really dirty - I think I'll try it tomorrow.  I need a good HAND wipe me down from some hard working folks.

ps.... wonder if they got any financing from Ron Barton and the JEDC ?
check them out and give the guys some biz this week !  The bikini chick might be tan by then

There's nothing like a bikini car wash on a hot day.  Too bad its going to be cooling off here soon.

big ben

where is this car wash at?  i'll have to try to find it sometime this weekend.

Yeah, there was corn there last year. I just thought we were getting a jump on post-apocalyptic urban survival and made a mental note of where the stash would be.

RIP Toby's BBQ (AKA Silky's..AKA Popeye's...AKA Rotrods) Toby's was always good and packed for lunch with people from across town and down the street. I also remember when the Sandy's Steer Room Steakhouse was in that same general area and Dapper Dan's Ice Cream was the draw in Five Points but that kind of dates me.

heh ... what about the the Green Derby restaurant, where the BCBS building is now?
And when Edge City was 'head shop', not a trendy clothing store?  Does the 5 Point News stand still have that room in the back, with 'adult' material?

We would show up to Five Points after we got out of school and go to Peterson's 5 & 10 for the best crap and to go gawk at the nudie mags across the street. Yes I am a reprobate ;D I also remember that the Steak and Egg Restaurant up the street (and the one on Herschel) had the best bacon cheeseburger around
