Thats the word from the people working there.

Very sad, and reason for alarm from the Vestcor people.

We structured that deal with Starbucks specifically to cut down on the numbers of people moving out within the first couple of months as a result of the isolation and nothing close by and open for the residents.

Part of the reason why I moved out of 11E..... Isolation.

This is not shocking.  Starbucks is a chain in trouble.  Although Starbucks may have failed at this location, it is now a built out space that can be made available for others.

I suppose the location in the landing does more business, I'd rather see that one close.

Well, i hate to see it close, but the one at the Landing isn't out of walking distance for Downtowners. The one at the Landing needs to be exapnded and have a more commanding presence at the entrance.

I'm big on atmosphere though. The one at the landing is more of your typical starbucks.  The one at 11E had a nice vibe to it, you could sit on the street corner, watch traffic and people pass. It just had a better ambiance to it, more cosmopolitan/big city. When I worked in the Modis tower I'd walk the extra two blocks just to enjoy it, but hey it's personal preference.

The landing location is definitely busier.

11E Bailout.  Or a Starbucks bailout; would this help?

One would assume they find more long term value in the Landing Starbucks, despite having to pay rent.

It's the perfect location for bar.  In texas, a liquor licenses is $4,000.  If Florida was that way, I'd bet it could make it as a small bar.  How much is it to get a liquor licenses for a bar in Florida/Jax these days?

I agree with David: the ambiance IS much nicer at 11E, which is why I go there at least 3x weekly. Parking is a snag, but what isn't where meters are concerned?
I remember this was on the 'list' for S-bucks to close last year, but they petitioned to spare it. Guess petitions only go so far.
That just sucks. The Landing isn't in my routes any way I take to/from work.

It depends on how much someone wants to sell theirs for. Ive heard of them going for $300,000. The best bet is to buy one already with an establishement.

So is there anything left to do downtown now?  Anything at all?  Honestly if I wanted the vibe of dead office buildings Id go hang around Southpoint at night...  At least over there its safer.

When Starbucks announced its downsizing last year, it said stores open less than 2 years would be the first to go....that's the main reason 11E closes while The Landing stays open.

Speaking of the Landing, I talked to Tony Sleiman the other day...he says several new shops/restaurants are on the way....this includes a jewelry store right near the entrance by Starbucks....and....Fuddruckers HAS FINALLY started construction (saw it myself)!
