If you were that upset about them hitting you with a 99 cent charge on the bill you should have said something to waiter and dealt with it head up.  Instead you decided to say nothing, and then whine about it on a message board???

However he handled it still doesnt change the fact that its bad business.

TheProfessor

If a company is cheap enough to charge you for tap water, one can only wonder about the cheapness of the food being served from the back of house.

Settle down, Dr. Phil...

If he doesn't want to start conflict and argue with people at a restaurant, then that's his choice. Who are you to tell him how to handle conflict in his life? Ridiculous.

And personally, I'm grateful that he posted about it, so I can avoid this place. I'd be just as pissed over getting charged for TAP WATER. What's next. Pay toilets? Charging rent for a table and chairs to eat at?

What are you his wet nurse?  And why would there have to be conflict?  I would agree with you paying for tap water is crazy,  but who is to say the wattress didn't make a mistake?  A polite question to find out for sure i think is better then trashing the place on a message board.  And for the record i don't work at the bar and have never stepped foot in the place.

You clearly judged the guy for not dealing with it "head up", blah blah blah. So again, who are you to tell him how to handle conflict? If he prefers to post about it here, rather than getting into it with the restaurant staff, then that's his choice.

And, come on, there were two separate line items on his bill for $0.99 that said water, so how's this a mistake?

You should be less judgmental. You'd be pissed too if you got charged for tap water, as would most people. That's a rip-off.

You should be less judgmental.

But arent you judging him for being "judgmental" (which together with intolerance is the only real sin to liberals nowdays BTW).

Being annoyed at someone else for being unnecessarily judgmental isn't really the same thing as being judgmental of others for no good reason. Everyone is judgmental, that's human nature, it's just a question of to what extent and whether it's appropriate under the circumstances. Still, I will chill out, I get your point, it's not really my business.

As a side note, I'm being extra nice to you this evening, since I know you must have had a really rough day after having to watch that idiot getting banished back to Texas where he belongs. Hehehehe.

A truly tolerant person is obliged to tolerate intolerance.

That sounds catchy in theory, but not in practice. If you look at history, tolerating intolerance is perhaps literally the worst thing you can do.

There's a little poem by Alfred Niemoller that you should read, about tolerating intolerance...

Quote from: Alfred Neimoller on January 20, 2009, 10:01:10 PM
"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."

However, the low rating clearly comes from something that really got my goat...a charge of $.99 each for water that appeared on our bill at the end of the meal. This is truly highway robbery at its best. We paid, left a good gratuity, and now I feel okay complaining about being taken advantage of. I did not complain about the water charge, but I'm sure they know this is not the norm. I have never been charged for tap water anywhere...let alone in Jacksonville and at a sit down restaurant.

donrull my man, have you EVER eaten in a restaurant in say - 29 Palms, Palm Desert, Amboy, Goffs, Lucerne, Death Valley, Keeler, China Lake, or Trona California? You might get to pay more for that water then the food! It's just a matter of time until we all live in Tipi's.

You forgot about Sushi.

In case y'all didn't know this already... The Sushi bars in the local PUBLIX MARKETS are lease spaces and NOT part of the publix chain. The store on Hodges at JTB, as well as 3 or 4 others in this area are owned by an oriental family. They are currently training an uncle to take on yet another location.

The good news is that the State of Florida, Department of Health, and the Restaurant Association have all named the Publix Sushi bars as:

1. The cleanest - ZERO HITS in inspections
2. The best - Original, beautiful and freshest food

So somewhere between buying Apples, Eggs, and Japanese Beer - you may be passing the best Sushi in the STATE!

Gross, Publix sushi might be clean, but its tiny and dried out.
