Very nice article. Miami looks like a beautiful city. Maybe within a few years, even though Jacksonville maybe be like another Miami as far as the number of high rises go, I think we can still be close to it. Keep the Faith!

i love Miami, i go down there every year for the winter music conference and from the downtown to the beaches have always enjoyed the mix of cultures, the vibrancy of the city and the tropical feeling of everything. The biggest problem you have to deal with is egos but hey you have that with any major city i guess, even jax

Fantastic tour Ennis!  I haven't been to Miami in a few years and its great to see a comprehensive rundown of all that has been happening down there.  If there was any city in Florida I would have to chose to relocate to, it would be Miami.

The transit is well organized, expansive, and inexpensive.  Miami's peoplemover system is what Jax/JTA should be striving to duplicate.  It connects major destination points with a circular system and allows multiple connection points to the heavy rail and commuter systems.   IMO, Miami is the only city in Florida where a car free life is easily accomplished.

Car free I dont think so. Many people in Miami complain about the the train that goes no where atleast that's what I have heard. I go to Miami atleast 2 to 3 times a yr. You need a car there with out a doubt. Atlanta, New York, and Chicago are a few cities I know of you can visit and pretty much do without a car.

IMO, Miami is the only city in Florida where a car free life is easily accomplished.

Don't forget about Key West.  You can get around that island pretty easy on a bike.

I think this article was just about Downtown Miami, even though the South Beach area was included in the metro pop. In general I was amazed how fast they put all the new towers up and some are stilling being built. Miami is a great place to visit, not sure about living there, so many people I know down there are trying to get out.

If I could afford to live there, I might give it a try, but places like that are always different when you are living there.
