The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) is conducting a safety study of Unversity Boulevard from San Jose Boulevard to Fort Caroline Road. Of the 9.3 mile length of University, 3.8 miles (40%) are north of Atlantic Boulevard.

From the TPO's May newsletter:

The TPO is conducting a safety study for University Boulevard from San Jose Boulevard to Fort Caroline Road. Study results and public input will be used to identify improvements to enhance safety for all users of the corridor – including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users.

Potential improvements could include new pedestrian crossings, median improvements, sidewalk and bike lane enhancements, improved signage and signals or new striping for crosswalks.

The study team created a StoryMap at University Safety Study to share corridor information and gather input via an interactive map. Residents are encouraged to share any information they may have regarding safety, such as gaps in sidewalks, areas prone to flooding, issues with crossing signals, signage needs or anything else that can help travelers along University Boulevard stay safe.

Public input will be accepted at University Safety Study until May 15.
