Jacobs Jewelers space in Downtown Jacksonville becoming Oak Steakhouse

The Greenleaf & Crosby Building Downtown will add Oak Steakhouse on the first floor in the former Jacobs Jewelers space at Laura and Adams streets.

Finally some good news at the corner of Laura and Adams, given the absolutely political mess across the intersection.

This is a solid get for this space. Experienced management group and a concept that seems to be successful in other markets.

The one in Alexandria was excellent.

Huge win for Downtown. Hopefully it opens on schedule.

So downtown will now have 4 high end steak houses:  Mortons, Ruths Chris, Cowford and now Oak.  That exceeds all of the suburbs with Captial Grille, Chophouse 13 and Three Forks.  (Maybe I am missing some others?)

Given the high office vacancy, corporate hosting that usually supports these places for much of the week must be off a lot so I am wondering if there is enough demand currently for this much fare downtown.
