Thanks for highlighting.  The Timucuan Preserve and associated lands are a real gem.  This and October/November are great times of the year to explore them.  So vast that you have to make multiple visits and see it in smaller chunks.

Does the National Park Service have a formal visitors center on the north side of the river?  I note the tour... how is that scheduled?

By the way, not mentioned in the article, but I have also seen equestrians on the horse trails provided in some parts.

How old are these pictures?  I read somewhere that a substantial portion of the plantation ruins had recently fallen.

They are about two weeks old. The ranger did mention that some of the ruins had collapsed in recent years.
