I'm wondering how visible it will be from Jacksonville or the Beaches.

If it's clear you will probably be able to see it from the beach or tall building over the treeline.

Jason

^ Absolutely.  It will be very visible assuming there is no cloud cover.

I would live to see this one from the Cape but there will be CRAP TONS of people down there.  The couple of shuttle launches I got to see in person were two of the most amazing displays of modern engineering in our history.  You can literally feel that thing lift off.  And this rocket is even more powerful.  There is absolutely nothing on this planet that compares, in my opinion.

Yep, our house was probably 30 miles as the crow flies from the shuttle pads and it would shake the whole house.

Selfishly I hope it gets scrubbed  because we'll be down there at the end of the week and the backup dates are Sept 2 and 5.

I have seen these space shots from around south Jax and near Downtown.  Trick is to have a clear shot over the trees and buildings.  Also, much harder to see in full sun sometimes.  Dawn or dusk are great as the sun reflects off the rocket and it isn't so bright that the flame and trail get whited out.  Best of all worlds.  I saw a Space X stage separate one time just driving home from work at dusk.  Night shots, you can mostly only see the flame.

Drier air can help too as sometimes there is a haze in the sky which can be almost as bad as full clouds.  I recall seeing the Challenger breakup from work during January with no problem.  Was a sad day, indeed.

I think another factor is the trajectory.  Sometimes they head south, other times more northerly.  Not sure for this one.

Looks like its a no go this morning.  During the daytime Ive seen it from Dania if it was heading south and of course Jax if its headed north.
Forza Napoli!  EPL has nothing on the Serie A

Not unexpected... but bummed nevertheless... :(
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Space Shuttle launches at dawn were my favorite, the bright orange glow from the SRB's and sunlight hitting the Orbiter as seen from my backyard on the westside, never ceased to amazed me. Hoping the Friday launch goes off without a hitch!

Launch scrubbed again.

They are standing down on this launch window.  Next is a month out.

Yeah... the combination of liquid hydrogen and quick disconnects is a tough problem.

I'm bummed that this won't be a daytime launch.  Here's hoping it gets scrubbed to December  :o ::)

Jason

Yeah, a midnight launch for this is a real bummer for sure.  Heh, I'd like to se it scrubbed again in favor of a daytime launch. :-)

Just think of how many more people would be able to witness it during the day.  There were estimates of nearly half a million people showing up to see it that last time.  That is a HUGE impact to the local economy down there.

Charles Hunter

With a night launch, we'll be able to see it better from Jacksonville.

Jason

True!  I watched the 11:30 PM Spacex launch a few days ago and it was really brite
