Karma Automotive chooses Jax over Tampa as the site of its sixth Florida dealership

California-based Karma Automotive intends to enter the Jacksonville market in March to sell its line of luxury electric vehicles whose new GSe-6 will start at almost $80,000 when it debuts in the first quarter.

The site is at northeast Beach Boulevard and Interstate 295.

"We found a lot more opportunity in Jacksonville, a nicer environment and overall economic growth. Jacksonville is so vast and is expanding constantly," Ranguelov said Nov. 8.

Cenntro plans to open its first US facility in Jacksonville

An electric vehicle manufacturer whose plans to go public have made it trendy online is looking at Jacksonville to open its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility as it scales up production of commerical electrical vehicles

Cenntro Automotive, based in New Jersey, is looking to create 34 jobs paying an average $52,000 and make a $25 million capital investment in Jacksonville, including $20 million in manufacturing equipment, according to a economic development agreement produced by the city.

Asked about the Tesla electric-car brand, Ranguelov said it is "not remotely close" to Karma.
