I was referring to your anti hate legislation as... obvious. I believe most of you took issue with DeSantis legislation that was redundant. Hate crime legislation fits that description to a tee...

The COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act is common sense federal legislation that enables to Department of Justice to expedite reviews of the crimes and helps local jurisdictions with consistent and up to date reporting. It's also a response to a documented problem. It passed 94-1 in the Senate.

I took issue with Florida's anti-riot legislation as it was out of proportion with what actually happened here. Nothing I saw or read about rose to the level of necessitating punitive new laws.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Thanks for the explanation why you agree with some and disagree with others.  Luckily that's why we vote and discuss... otherwise we just get a party card and vote the party line.  You will get the opportunity to vote out Rutherford and DeSantis. Many countries do not afford you the opportunity to dissent,  disagree...

China and North Korea come to mind...  8)

If we have to compare ourselves to China and North Korea to look good in comparison, as opposed to other developed western democracies, we're probably not actually doing all that well.
So, to the young people fighting in this movement for change, here is my charge: march in the streets, protest, run for school committee or city council or the state legislature. And win. - Ed Markey

DeSatan's legislation makes felons out of innocent citizens found guilty by association. Hate crime bills simply allow additional penalties for certain crimes. Not the same thing at

Name calling is unbecoming... even for you.  The governor's legislation allows for additional penalties for certain crimes also.  The exact same thing.

Sorry, not sorry.

He is a very dangerous man, and seeks to destroy the freedoms that many have given their lives for. Putting people in jail without bail and for not committing a crime in the first place, is NOT anything at all like delineating penalties based on motive. Just as premediated murder is not the same as murder that was not premediated, killing someone for what they are is not the same as killing someone for what they did to you.

They're literally putting people in jail in the UK over inocusious tweets.

Canada's locking up the elderly because they chose to celebrate life despite covid19.

Denmark requires children of immigrants to be fluent in Danish.

I wouldn't be too confident that those other western democracies are any more or less "free"
