First published in 1936, the "Negro Motorist Green Book' was a compilation of restaurants, over-night accommodations, gas stations and other public services for people of color traversing a "White-only" landscape for Black travelers during segregation. Jacksonville was a major Florida destination featured in the document. Here are four Green Book sites in Jacksonville that still stand today.

Great article, Ennis.  Your research for these articles is amazing.  Love the old photos and history.

I hope this not only leads to greater appreciation of Jax history but restoring and repurposing these buildings.  It would appear that the Richmond Hotel could even be a hotel again, perhaps a boutique style one.  Would be really cool to have that Downtown as we don't have anything like that now.
