This is the season of "Let My People Go" - but I'll play Pharaoh - and say NO!

Seems reasonable to let non-violent offenders out of prison (and into some other form of custody, like house arrest) while this public health crisis is ongoing.

As long as it does NOT count as time served.

I've personally no issue with it counting as time served, assuming the person is on house arrest or in custody of some sort. We're looking at a few months here and it seems, in the scheme of things, it's not a big deal.

+1.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Just put the whole prison on lock down.  Problem solved.

I don't like Brown very much at all (well, I don't know her, so I just have her record and public persona to go on). But we know this virus is potentially fatal and it seems remiss - to say the very least - to intentionally put someone's life at risk. If we take the non-violent offenders and put them in some form of alternative custody (such as house arrest), that not only reduces the risk to them, but it reduces the numbers in the prisons and therefore reduces the ease of transmission. Plus, it reduces the possible impact/strain on the prison infirmaries.

I feel like the biggest critics of Brown reside in the Crenshaw/Rutherford district.   Crenshaw was virtually uncontested for all those years, but nobody seems to decry voter apathy in this district.  People from Crenshaw's district should probably keep their mouths shut and recognize they have been part of the same problem.

So I sure hope SMM is not a Crenshaw/Rutherford voter if he is going to shit on Corrine Brown.

I believe Corrine Brown has been released to conditional house arrest as of today.  I'm glad.  What purpose was served by her being in jail at her age.  Zahn, the former JEA CEO is still around.  He should take her place.

I have no issue with her release. Non violent senior... house arrest is fine.  The clear difference was Brown was convicted... Zahn... not yet...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."
