Southern Rock Pilgrimage: The Allman Brothers Big House

Shortly after they established Southern rock in Jacksonville in 1969, the Allman Brothers Band relocated to Macon, Georgia to record at Capricorn Records. From 1970 to 1973, band members and their families lived together in an 18-room Tudor Revival home known as the 'Big House.' Today, the Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House celebrates the legacy of Southern rock's founders.

Interesting article and pictures.  Some have suggested a similar themed museum with a broader history base for Jacksonville.  Does anyone know if that is currently being pursued?

I do have one concern.  As a packed old house full of important memorabilia, is this building now fire sprinklered?  I didn't see any heads in the ceilings from what I could tell.  Old buildings are historic and make great backdrops for telling stories but if they and their contents have irreplaceable value, they need to be brought up to today's protection standards.  Just look at the tragic loss of priceless history in the fire at Notre Dame in Paris.  Fire protection's costs, while not necessarily cheap, would, in hindsight, be a bargain compare to the costs to rebuild what really can't be ever fully replaced.
