If early voting turnout is any indication, then Duval County looks likely to be one of the state's most important counties in deciding critical elections Tuesday night.

More than 5.1 million votes across Florida have already been cast in what promises to be a transformative election.

Tuesday's ballot is crowded with issues of enormous impact: a hotly contested governor's race between candidates espousing polar-opposite messages, a Senate race between two known political entities, races for the state House and state Senate, three cabinet positions and we haven't even gotten into the 13 proposed amendments to the state Constitution.

Duval County's turnout so far indicates voters are paying attention. Already, Duval voters have set a record for the highest turnout in a midterm with 37 percent of voters casting a ballot before election day. In 2014, only 23 percent of voters turned out before Election Day.

Voters can cast ballots Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I expected to wake up in Venezuela this morning. So much for that.
We went out last night to get away from the coverage and celebrate the end of the election garbage and I don't think we were alone. The restaurant was packed! It was like a Friday night.

And thank goodness for early voting. We voted yesterday and it was empty.

You didn't go to Taco Bell, by chance, did you?

Uh, that would be a no.  I think Jeffrey would vote Republican before we would eat there.

Fair enough. But with Boston Market gone, I guess that just leaves Dunkin Donuts.

I can appreciate where you are going with the thought process but when it comes to dinner, we are snobs. We have made so much money in the stock market (on the backs of the common folk of course), we pretty much have to be. It's a burden but it is what it is.

That's why I assumed Boston Market.

Being a socialist must be even worse than I thought.

It must be hard to be a dinner snob in Jacksonville.

Jax used to have a Southside Boston Market like decades ago.

I think that was my usual meatloaf stop.

I actually liked Boston Market. But I like Taco Bell, so...

There was a Kenny Rogers Roasters in Mandarin that turned into a Boston Market.  It looks like it became a McDonalds between 2008 and 2011.  What an epic fall from glory for that site.  Second only to the tragic transformation of Lee's Chicken at Sunbeam and San Jose into a CVS.

I worked at the Turtle's (later Blockbuster Music) that was in that shopping center. That is the only Kenny Rogers Roasters I have ever been to.

Fair assessment.
