Who's gone next? Could your team move, too?

Sooo nice to see one of these "lists" without the Jags on it......

From Yahoo/Forbes:
http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ys-forbesmovers101208&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

1. Florida Marlins (MLB)
2. Tampa Bay Rays (MLB)
3. Buffalo Bills (NFL)
4. Minnesota Vikings (NFL)
5. San Francisco 49ers (NFL)
6. New York Islanders (NHL)
7. Phoenix Coyotes (NHL)
8. Nashville Predators (NHL)
9. New Orleans Hornets (NBA)
10 Charlotte Bobcats (NBA)

- On a side note, I find it surprising that the MLS is actually in "expansion mode".

It seems the Bills are just destined to leave for Toronto. There is no way they stay in Buffalo after Ralph Wilson dies.

As for the Rays, I think they will slowly fade of these types of lists. They have a young core that is signed long-term and are 2 games away from the World Series. They will get the stadium they need eventually.

Yeah I saw that on Yahoo last night. I kept clicking the "next" arrow thinking I'd see the Teal and Black pop up. Not sure how ticket sales are going this year, but I don't think we've heard about any blackout scares other than the Bills game.

Oh the seemingly CONSTANT reduplication of this UNDYING type of thread! :'( :-[ ::)

I tell ya what; If Jax loses to any of the three teams after the bye week (CLE[even though they looked great against the G-Men], CIN, and DET) we'll hafta kick the Jags outta JAX and give em' to LA, or ORL. :) ;D

I'll be damned if they take my Nashville Predators from my home metro area! >:(

Ive heard that most people in Toronto are Bills fans, so I guess that would work, They are only 1 hour apart.  I don't think the Rays and the Hornets are moving. Rays may got to the WS & Hornets just missed the NBA finals. The fan bases are too hungry to move.

Let's not count those chickens before they hatch now. The Rays are a great bunch of young and talented kids, but, they haven't made it to the series yet.. The Sox have been in bigger holes and come back to win the series, 2004 down 3-0 to the Yanks. 2007 down 3-1 to the Indians. Let's just wait and see how this plays out before we crown them champs....
Yankees suck!! Yankees suck!! Yankees suck!!

Yeah, of course it works for Toronto. They'd love to have the Bills. I don't think Buffalo residents are quite so pleased about that possibility though.

As for the Rays and Hornets...success on the field doesn't prevent franchise relocation. Look at those very Hornets...in Charlotte they made the playoffs three straight years before they moved to New Orleans.

Got it all figured out y'all!

1. Florida Marlins (MLB)

Move to Jacksonville and remain the "Florida Marlins" playing 1/2 of games here,  and 1/2 in Miami.

2. Tampa Bay Rays (MLB)
Again a split home-team, with games in St. Pete Dome, Tampa, Orlando

3. Buffalo Bills (NFL)
Become the OKLAHOMA BISONS and head for OKC/Tulsa markets.

4. Minnesota Vikings (NFL)
Move to Birmingham, and shock of shocks revive the BIRMINGHAM VULCAN name.

5. San Francisco 49ers (NFL)
Head down the beach to Los Angeles, after all - who else but California had 49ers?

6. New York Islanders (NHL)
These boyz head to Jamacia and join in the bob sled team in the off season. KINGSTON ISLANDERS.
Seriously, look at LITTLE ROCK and TULSA. Name change to THE MOUNTAINIERS.

7. Phoenix Coyotes (NHL)
Another win for Oklahoma City, the play in the beautiful new FORD center downtown OKLAHOMA COYOTES

8. Nashville Predators (NHL)
Jacksonville Bound, we finally replace the fish, fire ants and Biloxi Biggots with a real team, and we keep supporting them well... JACKSONVILLE FIRE.

9. New Orleans Hornets (NBA)
Landing in Jacksonville's Arena is a clean sweep, the Hornets here are F-18's so we name them the BLUE ANGELS.

10 Charlotte Bobcats (NBA)
They pack their bags and head for SW Florida, playing in a new house at Fort Myers, as the FLORIDA PANTHERS

There any questions? Okay, if you don't like my towns somebody give LITTLE ROCK a call, their another over looked hungry market.

I like ideas 1 and 2 would be great for all I think,,I wonder would Jax fans go though. I am not a baseball fan at all, been to a few Braves games only because the tickets were given to me. Would Tampa and Miami be willing to share the revenue I dont think so,,still a good idea though. :-\

Florida Marlins, MLB:[/b]

Long a strong candidate for relocation, the Marlins appear to have a reasonably secure ballpark deal in place, pending the outcome of a lawsuit brought by local auto magnate Norman Braman. The new stadium, to be built on the site of the Orange Bowl, is scheduled to open in 2011.[/quote]

The last time I heard, the Orange Bowl just got torn down a while ago. It might still mean there's a possible chance that the Marlins may still stick around to build a new stadium there on that spot.
