I still think this city should have AAA baseball. We should be playing teams from cities like Charlotte, Memphis, Indy, New Orleans, Nashville etc, not Pearl,MS. Zebulon, NC, and Jackson, TN.(no offense to those places) Imagine what the attendance would be like if we played teams from cities that people could relate to.

I totally agree with this statement!!!

They would have to switch out one of the International Leagues teams with ours for that to work.

Who do you think should lose their AAA club in place of the Suns?

North Division
Buffalo Bisons
Lehigh Valley IronPigs
Pawtucket Red Sox
Rochester Red Wings
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Syracuse Chiefs

South Division
Norfolk Tides
Gwinnett Braves
Charlotte Knights
Durham Bulls

West Division
Columbus Clippers
Indianapolis Indians
Louisville Bats
Toledo Mud Hens

I see 6 teams easily that could & should be AA instead of Jacksonville

the Gwinett Braves team is a big mistake!!

I know baseball is not leaving Syracuse anytime soon. However, the pro team affiliated there now is Washington. Since they moved from Montreal to Washington in 2005, they have been affiliated with New Orleans, Columbus and now Syracuse. This might be an opportunity the Suns management could go after.

The Gwinnet Braves would probably be the best fit. Imagine the turnout for a Braves AAA team. The majority of this city are Braves fans and being so close to Georgia they would pull a huge crowd to see the up and comers and the rehabbing stars. I would personally LOVE to see a Red Sox affiliate here but that's a pipe dream.

the only problem here is that the Braves just moved from Richmond...and will be in Gwinnet for the first time in 2009 (in a brand new stadium)...so no chance that they move again any time soon

I wonder what the logic was in placing the AAA Braves affiliate in such close proximity to Atlanta - wouldn't one opt for "cheap seats" for a major league game in lieu of a minor league game?  Is there such demand?  Guess we'll soon see....

many pro temas have a minor league affiliate within an hour or so....for example Baltimore has Frederick...and while not all their farm teams, there are minor league teams in Camden, trenton, and Wilimngton...all within 30 minutes of Philly

the advantage for the Braves is they can call players up/send them down without cost and with little to no time delay.

Its really just Gwinnets government acting like they are bigger than they actually are. Gwinnett fans should support the Atlanta Braves....not have a AAA team in the same Metro area.

I completely agree with what is being said about Gwinnet and the Braves. Unfortunately, whats done is done. I would like to see a AAA team here but it's not happening anytime soon.
