hey Jen...i see the elguapo shirts everywhere.  saw quite a few at last week's marine corp 1/2. 

what does "el guapo" mean as it relates to the running club?

OMG...they are EVERYWHERE!   
We had a ton of Guapos running the Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon that weekend and they all did so well!  I am proud of every one of our runners....we share in each others' successes. The name El Guapo sorta started out as a joke, or a play on the movie "The Three Amigos", as the running club was started by three guys...Mike, Mike, and Paul....don't take its translation literally or that would be really pompous!  Guapos are all over town wearing red, promoting the sport and making us proud...we have some of Jacksonville's best runners, and some of Jacksonville's newest runners....some there for the "health of it" and some there to compete....but we do it together...every morning...every day of the year!
