The Peyton Administration

Mayor Peyton’s administration began its term July 2003 with the promises of running government like a business, growth in downtown and taking our city park system from the biggest to the best. Nearly three years into a four year term, we are still waiting for any of those promises to be fulfilled. The mayor ensured us that government would be run like a business, demonstrating personal accountability and fiscal responsibility. To date, he has fallen far short of these expectations. Nearly every major issue that this mayor has handled has turned into a fiasco.

I came across this old master plan from the Peyton Administration today:

Some of the ideas on building up parkland and adding more housing seem interesting. Any thoughts?

Yea, that wasn't Peyton's plan. He literally took the master plan from 1999 that had Delaney's face on it, replaced it with his and republished. Literally. Personally, I think he should be guilty of plagiarism. He took a plan from 1999 when he wasn't mayor and put it face on it.

Regardless, it was a good plan.

Interesting. I wasn't around for Delaney's years, so I didn't know Peyton stole it.

And yeah, I definitely agree that it was still something we should have followed. Maybe at some point Curry might be able to develop something similar that includes better integrating the growing options we have while being prepared for what's next. And maybe also nixing the courthouse annex demolition.
