The image of the internet-obsessed, frivolously spending millennial has pervaded the real estate market amid claims that their avocado toast, fancy latte preferences and student loan debt make home purchases an unattainable luxury.

According to reliable research, as well as the experience and expertise of local real estate agents, millennials are, in fact, purchasing homes, regardless of their choice of breakfast food. Forget unmotivated and foolish; instead, millennial homebuyers have proven to be research-driven, analytical and technologically savvy. According to the 2017 National Association of Realtors Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends study, millennials, those aged 36 and younger, accounted for the largest portion of homebuyers in 2016 at 34 percent. Furthermore, according to Zillow, millennials make up 56 percent of first-time homebuyers.

I was 21 when I bought my home in Murray Hill. My mortgage is wayyyyy cheaper than any of the apartments that I rented on the south side.
5 years later I'm still in Murray Hill and I have no problems. Murray Hill was also way cheaper 5 years ago.
I would say the majority of the home owners on my street are around 25-35.

...well you can tell the taking the bar exam part is true because my brain is completely fried from the studying. I'm 24 now, but what I meant to say--and failed to--is that I made the decision to build a house rather than rent at the age of 23.

Keep fighting along. Impressive for a 24 year old to be done with law school though. Congrats on your success.
