Announced via their FB page.

Mixed feelings on this, but a definitely short term negative.

Very sad... great Happy Hour and Mark is an awesome guy...  :(
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Not really my thing, but it's sad to see a downtown bar close its doors.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Doesn't sound like they went out of business...just decided to close. The clientele certainly changed through the years but they were consistently slammed on a Saturday night. I wonder if the new place, Myth, cut into their business a bit? Sad that the Elbow has remained pretty dead through the years with a revolving door. Dos Gatos and 1904 have really been the only long term options around there now that Mark's is another casualty.

I enjoyed Marks the few that times I have been there.

Sad to hear.  Mark's had a pretty good run.

Although it sucks for the core to lose another long-standing business it certainly doesn't spell doom and gloom for the area. The Cowford Chophouse is really starting to take shape and my hope is that it's possible success can breed more opportunities for that part of downtown. On top of the hype surrounding Cowford and the launch of Bold City's brewpub, the old Mark's is a pretty decent space in a prime location - plenty of potential to start another renaissance for the Elbow.

And a shout out to Mark's for their years of service - they will be truly missed by many including myself. They were early pioneers of that section of Bay St. that not that long ago had absolutely nothing. I'm thankful for their contribution to the area to what the area has become now and what it could possibly be for any future downtown visionaries.

Thanks all for the kind words. Yes we did have a pretty good run down there. I'm sure in the future that area will reach its full potential. Once the old courthouse and Berkman II become whatever they become may turn out to be the missing pieces to the Bay Street puzzle.
Cheers!

Any specific reason you left?
