Fully Toeing the Political Party Line

Conservative talk show host Tomi Lahren recently got suspended from the Blaze for talking about her stance on being pro choice on 'the View'. Bill Clinton critiqued Obamacare during a Democrat political rally for his wife. Those are just some examples of political figures going against the grain (not fully toeing the party line).

Whatever political side of the aisle you're on, is that party's agenda totally off limits to criticism? Are they any minor kinks with your political party's agenda (whether Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or other) or is that bubble rightfully impenetrable?

I expect bureaucrats, political talking heads etc to fully toe a party line, because they are most likely being paid to do so. IMO for a regular Joe or Jane to fully toe the line, it's mostly BS. What are of these varying agendas, buzz words, policies etc etc, there is nothing you can agree with on the other side? I find that truly hard to believe.

I think you'll find that the majority of people don't toe the party line.  The only people that really do are the extremes.

I find that people "toe the line" much more as elections near.

I think the issue with Tomi Lahren was more that her abrasive "on-air" persona was also who she is "off-air" so that she caused a lot of friction with people at The Blaze.

As a member of the Libertarian Party, our party's platform is constantly criticized and debated. The reasoning, however, being that the leaders of the party are trying to draw in people that are more left leaning while the base seems to be more right leaning.

You're talking about people who work for The Blaze, for god's sake.  They are dyed-in-the-wool kooks of the hardest line.  Of course they don't tolerate dissent and sure as hell not when it comes to abortion.

You should be able to have differing views and opinions without being arrogant and obnoxious. That alone is the main reason Trump had such a hard time winning Republicans. It's not what you say but how you say it.

What's "arrogant and obnoxious" about that comment?

You should hear what I have to say about the "Libertarian" Party.

It's not Tomi's comment. It's her overall persona. You can have the right answer or point of view (not saying I agree with her stances), but if you constantly come across in a demeaning way or like I said, arrogant and obnoxious, no one will be willing to listen to you. Tomi is more about shock value and entertainment than she is intelligent discussion.

We could go for hours about issues with the LP. lol. While, I find myself aligning with the vast majority of their principles, the politics and infighting within the party at all levels has gotten quite old. The LP can't seem to get out of their own way.

Her brash persona is why she was hired in the first place so it's certainly not why she's being fired.  She is being dropped because she personally doesn't match up with her on screen character.  She's more liberal than her character is portrayed and that's causing problems behind the scenes.

My bad. I thought you were referring to Murder Me Rachel's post...not Tomi! Sorry about that  :-[

Ehhhhhhh--- i mean, I am pretty sure she's just as racist and xenophobic and disgusting as she comes across on TV, and in no way "liberal".  She just happened to voice an opinion on one of the right's third rails- abortion- that didn't toe the line.
Her twitter history and interviews with college friends suggests she's not the loud mouth conservative she is known for being.  That's a character she made up.  A sick and twisted character and shame on her for using hatred for personal gain but that's not her personally.  A lot of on air personalities are a made up character to gain a fan base.
