Trump is proposing to cut funding for JTA's remaining BRT projects, Ft Lauderdale's streetcar and the remaining Sunrail expansion lines:

But....but....infrastructure spending?  The guy ran on it.

Steve

Strange list. The NYC Second Avenue Subway is on it. I think that line is projected to carry like 1 million people a day when fully completed, and relieve the Lexington Avenue line which currently carries 2.4 million people and is miserably crowded at rush hour.

If that's not a major infrastructure improvement I don't know what is.

This is sad. By cutting phases from larger projects it necessarily reduces the efficiency of the already completed phases.

Jim

I seriously don't think he knows what he is doing.

Who's needs rail, street cars and BRT? We have roads, cars, and SUVs.

I will quote Bill McKibben here.

Basic Trump budget: Let's defend at any cost a country we won't spend a dime to make a better place.

We need more bombs, and fighter jets, and guns and Nuclear bombs and weapons and gosh I just don't know. Isn't it much better to have storehouses of artillery and bombs and stuff than that nasty old infrastructure that only really seems necessary for poor and working people? We waste too much money on these silly projects for cities where people are too poor to afford a limo driver and car. And don't you think it makes more sense to give proper tax cuts to the richest people in the country? And remember these people who want to use buses and trains and subways aren't going to produce one singe job themselves unless of course it's a maid or something. This is what the ELECTORAL COLLEGE wanted. I'm excited that the EPA might go away. We can start poisoning the air again and that will be good for the medical and health industry. We as a country spend way too much money on enriching the lives of the peons. Streetcars! Trains! The Arts! Please!
All hail Trump!!!!!!

When he's finished, with the help of the Republican party, nobody in their right mind will want to come here anyway.

I was really looking forward to the east corridor of the BRT. Doesnt look good.

It would be nice if we could keep the money from going to Washington in the first place, then we wouldn't be at the mercy of whatever the agenda is of whatever adminstration is there.

Like it or not, politics from the White House down to local government are intimately intertwined with local development in all areas from Transportation to environmental impact.

On this site transportation has always been a topic of interest and concern for many reasons known to all of you.  The latest budget being offered up by Donald Trump will have a very negative impact on cities across the nation when it comes to the transportation needs, desires and future plans.  Trump is calling for a 54 billion dollar cut to transportation.  Yes, that is 54 billion with a "b" cut.  Perhaps he want's to use this money for his dream to build a 57 billion dollar un-needed wall between the U.S. and Mexico, that he claimed Mexico would pay for.  His priorities are to say the least, way, way off.

QuoteThe numbers are in. The preliminary 2018 federal budget proposal was released by the Trump administration today, and it doesn't look good for urban infrastructure funding.

The "blueprint budget" offers a series of sizable cuts in domestic spending, totaling $54 billion, including reductions that would target transportation funding, community development, and public housing. If this budget is adopted by Congress, these cuts could create massive shortfalls in city and local budgets and hinder future plans for reinvesting in urban communities.

Note Jacksonville is on the list for funding the East Corridor for the BRT and the S.W. Corridor for the BRT.

I'm pretty sure if you live in rural Wisconsin, Pennsylvannia or Ohio you don't give a damn about infrastructure or the Arts. You're patiently waiting on T Rump to bring your job back. And you will be waiting a long time.

In the meantime I checked and it seems almost every item from Ivanka Trump's fashion line is made in China or Hong Kong.  Maybe those jobs will be brought back to our fellow Americans living in the fly over realms. In the meantime, the Ivanka high heeled shoes are great at keeping most of your foot out of the manure in the pasture.
