NFL.com is reporting that the Jaguars will take Leonard Fournette with the 4th pick.

They are showing Cleveland taking Myles Garrett #1 at DE.

I hope this isn't the case. There are so many other needs on this team and you can find a serviceable running back in later rounds. Someone like Donnel Pumnphrey out of San Diego State would be a great pick in rounds 3-5. They should look to fill a more pressing need at number 5, like offensive line or defensive line (which is Coughlin's style anyways). However, if they are dead set on taking a running back at 5, Dalvin Cook is just better. He's faster than Fournette while still retaining that downhill style that Fournette has. He has ball carrier vision that Fournette couldn't even dream of having. And on top of all that, Cook can catch out of the backfield AND pass block, which any running back has to be able to do it the NFL today. All told, if Fournette is the pick at #5 this will be one unhappy Jaguars fan.

If the Jags are all in on Blake then they need to draft Founette or Cook. The Jags have only been successful when they have had a great RB. My normal draft philosophy is to draft big guys but Cook and Leo are game changers at that position.

Reporting?  Haha.  I think you mean mocking him to us.  You can't "report" much in February about the NFL Draft.

Dalvin has better vision for sure.  Dalvin also falls down right when a defender touches him, fumbles a lot, and actually can't pass block that well.  I don't think either of them are worth the 4 pick.

Cook, in 3 years at FSU, had 10 fumbles lost, 4464 yds, averaged 6.5 yards per catch, 46 TDs. Bowl game this year against Michigan, 110 yards after contact. Not really what you'd call "falls down right when a defender touches him". Fournette is one hell of a back, but his stats aren't close.

4464 yards? Now that's more yards rushing than the entire Florida Gator team in the same period.  Not bad. He did have a couple of costly fumbles versus Oregon as a Freshman. But he was great in big games other than that. Just ask Lake.

It's early. There will be a thousand mock drafts over the next two months.

I'd prefer Jonathan Allen from Alabama. He is a dominant player and already has an NFL body. Stick him at strong side end during early downs, and slide inside on passing downs.

If Allen is gone, Cook would be a tempting pick. He has great speed, great patience, great vision. He reminds me a lot of Fred Taylor. The biggest negative you can say is probably that he is a liability in pass protection. That seems to be an FSU tradition, as Freeman proved in the Super Bowl.

The advantage with Cook that FSU was often able to take advantage of was how good a receiver he is.  Not just an RB that can catch a screen or swing pass but seriously the deep ball.  If you cover him with an LB he better be able to cover down the field very well.

Obviously, I was being a bit hyperbolic and Dalvin looks like he'll be great, but he isn't without his issues.  I do see NFL defenders pulling him down pretty easily when they get their hands on him.

Here's a good breakdown ;) . https://youtu.be/oal9T61thY0
