Quote"We are not getting caught flat-footed. There is infrastructure already in place. There is a regulatory system already in place to handle the new patients that are going to come on board with the passage of Amendment 2."

I hate to be cynical about what should've been one of the unquestioned good things to come out of the election but I digress.

When I first read the Compassionate Care Act it was clear that certain politicians saw the writing on the wall and started working to corner the medical marijuana market for a few influential people. At the forefront was the Senate Sponsor Sen Rob Bradley, House Sponsor Rep Matt Gaetz, and Rep Matt Caldwell who added a last-minute amendment that drastically reduced the number of nurseries that could even apply for one of five licenses. It also established the Office of Compassionate Use under the Department of Health to oversee the program and develop rules.

Earlier this year Sen Bradley and Rep Gaetz once again teamed up to introduce a bill that would expand medical marijuana to include high-THC for patients with terminal conditions. It allows the already licensed growers to expand their operations and begin growing high-THC marijuana. So there is already a system in place. It is a system built on cronyism with a government protected monopoly for a small drug cartel.

Next year I expect the legislature to hand all medical marijuana production to the small group of growers that have been pumping tens of thousands of dollars into campaign accounts and political committees. Matt Gaetz was just elected to Congress so he will not be there to shepherd the House bill through the process. However Rep Travis Cummings was just appointed to Chair the Health and Human Services Committee.
I support meaningless jingoistic cliches

I'm thrilled it passed but still not getting my hopes up until more details come out. I really, really hope they allow for home cultivation of some sort. So goofy though, just legalize it and scrooge mcduck into the tax money from it.

I'm curious as to how John Morgan is wrapped into it.  That sleezeball has dumped way to much money into lobbying for this to be out of the goodness of his heart.
