I'm very happy to see more signage like this.  Apparently the city was serious about turning that section of Bay St. into "E-Town".  Now if they could only get the courthouse off of the riverfront and replace it with a nice mixed use development.

OMG     This was approved by the Powers That Be. Holy smokes, it does not feel like hell froze over. I like the signage. Kudos to whoever for the approval & kudos to Mark for the design.
  Sorry to get so giddy about a sign, but it is a vast improvment to what I'm used to seeing in the signage issue we seem to have Downtown.

That would be Koodos to Mark Hemphill, who owns both The Dive Bar and Mark's Downtown Lounge.  A great guy with a great vision for his businesses.  (No I don't work for him.  :-|)Ha!

Wow... and I was just at Mark's last Thursday and Friday night and I didn't notice that. Well maybe they did it on Saturday though. Either way, I like it. I hope this type of signage continues down Bay Street.

Downtown needs this type of signage....

Nicky G's Brick Oven Pizza will also have some form of illuminated signage when they open later this month or in September on Bay Street.

As for everyone else that has posted, we are taking everything into consideration. We will have a large sign on the front of the building with wrapped in red neon. We have lights in the landscape already, we are just trying to figure out who we need to contact to get them turned on.

There's also another bar coming to Bay Street that will open next to Nicky G's.

Nicky G’s will be collaborating with a new venue that is going in next door, which will offer live music. The businesses have agreed to keep the same hours, Nicky G’s providing food and the new venue providing entertainment.

It’s going to be called Metropolis I believe. I’m not exactly sure what type of music. I think Hip Hop / R&B, but I’m not 100% sure. I will find out though. I’m pretty sure it is going to be more of an up-scale type place. I will give the owner a call and try to find out though.

It's about time someone along Bay St add this kind of signage to their establishment.  This is great to see and let's hope it leads to more signage like this.  Do we have Starbucks to thank for this?

this just shows the poor state that downtown is coming from, when we all get so excited about a sign being put up!  You gotta start from somewhere right?!

Excellent sign!  Hope it's one of many to come to the Bay Street entertainment district.  Also, must give credit to the photographer, great shot the diagnal composition highlight the diamond shape of the sign.  Very creative.

The sign ordinance was changed in 2003 to allow for these types of signs.  It just took four years to let everyone know.
