Right in the middle of Trump's latest controversy, our mayor will be at his side.

The week after he  criticizes the family of a slain soldier. After Trump's comments and actions are being condemned nearly universally. And at the Veterans Memorial Arena to boot. Our mayor will be at his side.

Disgraceful.

QuoteMayor Lenny Curry plans to attend Donald Trump's presidential campaign rally Wednesday evening in Jacksonville, the mayor's spokeswoman confirmed Monday.

Trump will appear at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.

Curry, who chaired the Republican Party of Florida before becoming mayor last year, supported Sen. Marco Rubio in the Republican primary. Curry did not attend a Trump rally in October at The Jacksonville Landing that attracted thousands of supporters.

Just like Democrats are standing by Hillary after she committed a federal crime and wasn't held to the law; Republicans are standing by Trump even after he's made yet another hugely inappropriate comment... Nothing new here, Dems not wanting a Republican in office and Repubs not wanting a Democrat in office...

Curry, IMO, is many things but I wouldn't necessarily call it "disgraceful" because he is supporting his party's candidate.

Curry formerly served as chairman of the Republican Party of Florida before mayor. A Republican mayor in a major city attending a Republican rally.....what's the issue again?

When Mayor Brown refused to endorse or meet with President Obama in 2012, it hurt him a lot worse than it helped him. Democrats never forgot the slight, and it didn't win him enough support from Republicans and independents to make up losing core voters. It was one of the (several) missteps he made that cost him the election. Trump's a lot more toxic than Obama, but there are also Republican voters who would never forgive a Republican official who didn't tow the party line.

I find it interesting, and sad, that attending a rally makes the news, but serving as a delegate at the RNC did not. Curry served as one of Florida delegates, and obviously they supported Trump there.

You might want to call the AG and let him her know this.

For quite some time I have detested Donald Trump.  When I saw him at the beginning of the year, I said surely, he will be a flash in the pan and we won't hear about him for awhile.  As the campaign continued I sort of liked the idea of the Donald screwing-up the Republican party even more than it already is, and being a viable candidate that might break up the big money power brokers.  However, the longer he is out there in the public eye the more of my original feelings about him return.  He is totally out of it.  His ideas about sacrifice are so out of it I can't believe he really feels the way he says he does.  He reminds me of the smirking Mussolini with a touch of Joseph McCarthy and Trey Gowdy thrown in.  Trump will eventually flame out and the right wingers will have to find another moron to hitch their wagons to.  The Republican Party or what is left of it, will have to completely change.  Surely we deserve better than the party of Chicken Little.

I hope we get plenty of pictures of Lenny Curry with Trump. Imagine a mayor so handcuffed to the party that he will be standing side by side with Trump in the middle of his worst week of this long campaign. And right before he is going to ask the citizens of this city to approve a tax increase.

Curry can take his "One City, One Jacksonville" and shove it up his a$$. I never believed his slogan. He conveniently was "out of town" when President Obama came to Saft. He endorsed Marco Rubio, and now is supporting Trump? He will support anyone who can give him money or help him move up in politics. The amount of time and money being spent on his pension vote is shameful. If it was really that great of an idea, it wouldn't be so hard to sell.

Jacksonville is a huge military city and ethnically diverse. Curry voting as a delegate is very different from him publicly supporting Trump and welcoming him to our city. Mayor of Jacksonville has always been a stepping stone for him, which becomes more evident all the time. Curry cares about the Republican Party only and so far has done nothing to move this city forward.

Proud to be voting NO on August 30.

Since our dear Mayor feels it appropriate to endorse someone who hands out nicknames, I figured I'd give him one. #LyinLenny

that's just it.  The proposed plan allows the Mayor to claim he didn't "raise" taxes.

I'm pretty sure this country has this thing "innocent until PROVEN guilty"....in a court of law.

QuoteI hope there are so many photos of Curry and Trump together than they can run pages of opposition ads come the next mayoral election.

Alvin who? People have short memories, Curry is doing what he said he would do, add more cops to the street and tackle big issues. He's doing what he campaigned to do, while trying to "fix the pension mess". Regardless of the Kumbaya fest up on stage, or the protesters, Curry has done OK in my book so far.

He's pretty politically savvy and has been in Jacksonville for a long time, he will survive the hot air from Trump for a day.
