Who Will The Jaguars Draft?

The NFL Draft is almost here.  Finally.  For rabid NFL fans, it is time to rejoice.  It feels like Christmas with every GM playing the part of Santa delivering a shiny new toy that fills each of us with hope, excitement and cheer.  But how will it affect Jville and the Jaguars?

If they draft Tunsil I'll buy you Chopstick Charley's.
That's not happening.

If the Jaguars traded out of this pick who would be worth trading down for?  If the Jags traded down to 12 or 15 and were able to pick up another 2nd rounder and still get a DE like Shaq Lawson or an or ILB like Darron Lee - that could be best case scenario.  Then, they could pick up best lineman available and best corner available to add much needed depth at both positions.

Just to stick to the Clemson theme (biased?  yeah, maybe a little) I would like to see them pick up M. Alexander if he's available in Rnd 2.

Clemson is known for producing WRs and RBs, but the DBs have to go against them in practice, and this kid carries himself with the swagger of a shutdown corner.  I don't know his stats (too lazy to look it up), but even though his Int total is low, I don't think anyone has scored against him, and that's because he doesn't get the ball thrown in his direction all that often.  I don't know if it's him, or the falloff of talent on the other side of the field.

He was holding his own in the Championship game until he left injured.

As far as the first round, I don't have anyone I love.  Would I like to see Jack or Bosa?  Sure.  Would I be disappointed in Tunsel?  Only if he turns out like Joekel or Fisher (picked ahead of Joekel by the Chiefs).  I like the idea of trading back to the middle of the first and picking up some more picks, but that's because I like the odds better.

FWIW, I don't really care as long as they get the job done.

If we stay at 5, I hope Ramsey or Jack falls to us and if Ramsey is available, I hope they aren't tempted by any trade back scenarios. I don't think we've reached the point to have the luxury of passing on a dominant game changer. I'm looking forward to driving up to go to the Draft Day party at the stadium.

Meanwhile I'll await the typical MetroJax Shad Khan bashing comment to somehow come into the conversation.

Ramsey if he is there.

If not, Bosa.

Too many questions about Jack's knee.

I really don't understand the massive drop of Mackenzie Alexander.  He more than held his own in the championship game.  In my opinion, he will be a steal anywhere he is drafted.  Even though he doesn't match the prototype corner that Gus' scheme demands, at some point you need to have a cover guy who can shut down a #1 WR.

I am not a Clemson fan per say, but I do believe that Shaq Lawson is going to make the team that drafts him very happy.  He came up big in the championship game and as Big Cat Country and others have pointed out - he is the best pure edge rusher coming out.  He may not be the best on every down, but he will collect sacks in droves and come up with big plays when you need them.

I'm still suffering from some Andre Branch induced PTSD.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I refuse to believe they'll take anyone besides a pass rusher.  If Ramsey is there they might take him.  But other than that, they'll take Bosa (Or maybe a wildcard Lawson).   The need is just too great at pass rusher.

And despite Caldwell's "10-12 year player" assertion, they HAVE to win this year.  And the Jack knee, even if the Jags think it is good in the long run, is too much a risk for winning this year.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

Almost certainly Jack is out... he may free fall to the second round based on his own comments yesterday... That said... Jags pick Ramsey or Bosa.  I want the Packers to take Bullard at 27.

In 2012 the Jags pick at 5 was.... Justin Blackmon

QuoteJustin Blackmon pleads guilty to DUI

On the day of the NFL draft, there's more bad news for one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory.

Justin Blackmon, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, was arrested for DUI in December. According to TMZ, Blackmon pleaded guilty on Wednesday. TMZ reports that Blackmon is facing prison time when he's sentenced in June.

As a rookie receiver for the Jaguars, Blackmon showed a lot of promise, catching 64 passes for 865 yards. But he played just four games in 2013 and hasn't played since after he was suspended indefinitely for repeated violations of the league's substance-abuse policy. At this point it seems extremely unlikely that he'll ever play in the NFL again.

Blackmon serves as a cautionary tale to all 32 teams today: No matter how great a player's talent, off-field issues can wreck his career. Blackmon will surely be discussed in many draft rooms today.
