Jokes Cracked at Code Enforcement Hearing

While at a Special Magistrate hearing Tuesday morning I was appalled by Code Enforcement (CE) and the Special Magistrate (SM) himself. They had an 88 year old woman there for not repairing her property. The CE inspector recommended a $250/day fine. The woman told them her daughter had just secured a loan for the repairs and the SM gave her 30 days to correct. Then they (city CE employees and the SM) joked about fines. The SM even said to one of the CE inspectors, "You'd fine your own mother!" Then they all laughed....I was not laughing.... I'm so glad they enjoy making fun of other people's issues <sarcasm>.
