Have not seen any reviews on MJ.

Wassup?

I went there the other day for lunch w/ my mom.

I find the menu to lack focus - it definitely feels a bit random, with little (if any) cohesion as for style, ethnicity, type, etc. Maybe it's just me but I'm usually not a fan of restaurants that feel like the chef/menu designer just threw a bunch of ideas at a wall to see what would stick. In other words, in my terminology, it feels like a 'stoner menu' - i.e., a bunch of random shit that sounds really, really good when you're building out a menu - high - at 2am.

THAT SAID, I found the food we ordered to be quite delicious. Again, super random...but very, very well done. Tasty, if a bit salty, but overall really damn good. I'd go back!

Caveat: only went for lunch - assuming dinner menu is different (maybe even more cohesive/intentional?)...and we only ordered 2 things. Bahn mi and a soba noodle/tofu dish.

Ben Sez,

in as much as you know me, do you recommend I go there with Mrs. Ribault for lunch or dinner?
I intend to ask for bread with my bowl of soba noodles.

The Sea-bass dish last night was terrific. I enjoyed the spicy tomato soup as well.
