Atlantic Beach is a nice contrast to Jacksonville Beach.  For the most part its heavily residential so the it's not as crowded.  In contrast to Ponte Vedra, the beach is also publicly accessible with right-of-way easements located at the end of the majority of East-West streets.

I agree Lake.  Atlantic Beach seems to run at a slower pace and as you head south into Jax Beach and Ponte Vedra things speed up and get more frantic.
