QuotePresident Barack Obama is scheduled to make a stop in Jacksonville on Friday.

According to a post on the White House blog, President Obama will visit Saft, a company that produces high-end Lithium Ion batteries.

The news of President Obama making a trip to Jacksonville has a lot of people talking.

"It's exciting, it's new," said DaCorey Odomes.

Exciting and new is what Odomes said Jacksonville needs right now.

"I think it would give some, light on the city. I think we need that," said Odomes.

White House sources say this trip is about highlighting the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This plan was signed into law seven years ago, as a part of the President's Stimulus Plan.

Saft was funded in part by the Recovery Act.

Meanwhile Odomes believes this visit is the boost Jacksonville needs.

"Give the city some exposure, put Jacksonville on the map, let the world know Jacksonville is a decent city, we have decent people. More opportunities, in regards to jobs, I think it'll be cool," said Odomes.

We reached out to the company to hear what they have to say about the Commander-In-Chief's trip and the company referred us to the White House.

Thanks for that. I would've expected to hear more about this, to be honest.

Darn.  After reading the title I thought he was coming here to admonish local leadership for their stance on the HRO.

I am guessing AF1 will fly directly to Cecil Field?

Will Curry be a dick and have a "previously scheduled obligation" or will he represent our city by showing up and thanking our President for highlighting job creation in Jacksonville?

My guess is he'll be a dick. Hope he proves me wrong.

Either there or JAX. NAS Jacksonville is still working on their runway repairs.
