THRIVING Jacksonville Comedy Scene!!!!

Hello fellow citizens of Duval!!!!

I'm not sure if you are aware, but Jacksonville has a very talented and quickly growing comedy scene. You probably aren't because we're terrible at marketing...

...but as you can see, we're fixing that. We are all banding together to help move the scene forward (the Jacksonville Comedy Collective), and we would really love the support of our beloved city. There are many, many great comedians and improvisers in Jacksonville and several events every week for your entertainment.

Every week starts off with the WEEKEND FINALE at Rain Dogs in 5 Points, Sundays at 7:30(ish). This is a variety show, with sketches, videos, improv, games, stand-up comedy and more. You'll usually see local comics, along with some out-of-towners. It's FREE and there's great prices on beer. Which goes wonderfully with comedy. AND you can win (inexpensive) prizes!!

There's a lot of wonderful stuff going on in the Jax comedy scene and many talented, dedicated, and funny people working in it. There's also many small businesses who are getting behind it to make it work (The Hourglass, Rain Dogs, The Birdhouse to name a few). Please support your local artists!

Come check out the Bold City Improv Jam this Wednesday night at Rain Dogs in 5Points. We will be celebrating Beastgiving! These shows are always free of charge, but we are asking that attendees bring a non-perishable food or hygiene item (or cash money) to gain admission to this special holiday show. All donations will go to the UNF Lend-a-Wing Pantry, which benefits UNF students that are in need.

The festivities will start at 8pm with performances by Dem Broads (a new group from the University of Florida's Theatre Strike Force), Yes Anderson, and Beastwood. As always, these scheduled performances will be followed by and improv jam that anyone may join (don't worry, it is fun and low-pressure, and not a complete free-for-all). So, one can of beans gets you three great improv acts and the opportunity to play on stage - and maybe get discovered, you never know when Lorne Michaels will be in the audience (so far, never). It's easily the best entertainment deal in town. We are literally playing for beans!
